re: the Cops will luv this
I can't make my mind up on this one.........
1. Is he that stupid to be doing 300k's on a public highway in the first place.
2. Is he that stupid that he also took a photo of himself doing 300k's
3. Or do you take your hat off to him for having a go and making sure he got some evidence.
In the UK a few years ago, a complete idiot took his Ferrari out and decided to video(audio aswell) himself off the dashboard doing ridiculous speeds and manouvers.
Unfortunately for him a copy of the tape fell into the laws hands and the guy ended up losing his licence and spending a short time in one of Her Majesties not so plush hotels(the nick).
This could be a good topic.........The question is what does everyone else think?????

re: the Cops will luv this
We all speed, i dont think doing 200+ over the limit is any different to 25+ in victoria (laws eyes anyways)
By the looks of it, he's on a quiet country road. No traffic..
So atleast he's thinking of everyone else. EG chances of hurting anyone else appart from yourself on a quiet country road. are not as great as doing it in suburbia, or on the freeway.
Anyways, If I'd done over 300 clicks I'd want some bloody evidence!
I dont condone the act, Just think that he went about it the right way

if you gunna do the crime, be prepared to do the time..... although, after that you should also be thinking of the "name" he is giving to motorcyclist as well. Unfortunately, it's a blast (adrenaline rush) to go and test your bike and see how cool it is to twist the throttle that far and keep it until redline in 6th (uh, hard to do on a straight, eh?) anyway, i'm sure a lot of us can't be hypocrits on this one.......

Hmm, well, speedos are rarely acurate and that could be anything up to 30 clicks out.... So, lets see, 301 - 30 = hmmm... ok, that's probably not going to make THAT much difference to his licence holding ability.
Seriously tho. It's all well and good that he says it's him, but good luck to anyone that wants to prove it.

Think its an R1, '98 model at that too.
Eitherway, as aardvark pointed out, its probably 270 in real terms. But hell, it looks pretty to have 300+ on the speedo and its worth its bragging rights.
Also as aardvark pointed out, regardless of how much he jumps around saying its him, if taken to court there's absolutely no definate proof that it was him.

How did he take that pic at that kind of speed?
Doesn't look like a video screen shot to me.

Which brings me to a question: How fast do all you ride? I always stick to the speed limit, e.g. doing 57-60 in a 60 zone and 77-80 on 80 zone. But it seems that ALL vehicles are passing me ...not fun. There is nothing wrong with my speedo, I have check with gps etc.
It's pretty annoying when I smoke all the cars in nepean highway until 80 and leave them a good 500 meters behind
, but then they slowly catching up and PASS me

As fast as the bike will go, with the throttle all the way open, until I have to brake for "the end of the street", "the corner", "cats". Actually, i don't brake for cats, but I thought I'd chuck that one in there.

well i lost my licence for just over 10 years so i guess its safe to say i SPEED!

Got my licence back now 2 years ago and first thing i did was thrash out a Bussa speedo said 298. Speeding yeah i speed but then almost everyone i ride with speeds and i have ridden with alot of ppl.
The issue i have with that pic is the quality and size, video still hmmm doubtful. Now the speed vs quality i've spent alot of time doing 300 on the Autobarn i got a shyte load of vids myself of the trips and that pic for that speed does not fit, to clear, scenery clarity is to good i'll go bogus on this pic

C'mon guys and girls i'm sure everybody on this forum at one stage or another has tried to get the most out of their bike.
Maybe were just a bit smarter not to tape/phoograph this event.
Maybe he lies alot and his friends didnt believe him so he photographed the speedo for them.
