How many is too many?

Post by StuMiller »

Some feedback if you would......

I'm looking at buying a second hand bike. The bike is a 1998 ZX-7R, with 28000 kms on the clock

All repots back from the dealer indicate the bike is in excellent condition.

Looking at it, it does look very well looked after. Can't see any real signs of being dropped, cracks, dents, abnormal tyre wear etc.

I'm interested in what you all think, where you would draw the line on kms on a second hand bike.

Cheers

;)

28,000 is bugger all especially for a zx7r, the motors in em were bullet proof.

Phil has well over 100,000ks on his zx9r and its still going strong with over 130hp, orig clutch etc...

Depends on the asking price. Anything less than 10 years old and under 50,000kms from a dealer is covered by a three month warranty which helps if anything goes wrong straight away. The good thing about motorbikes is that if they look good they usually are. It's pretty apparent when a bike has been re-sprayed, straightened or otherwise interfered with unlike cars which can be difficult to assess. 28,000kms is not a great deal, especially (as Dave said) for a ZX7 . They are pretty sturdy pieces of kit and give very few problems if they have been looked after

I sold my last bike at 60,000km and it was still going hard (mind you it was only 3 years old)...
The world is round. It has no point.
