Heard from the transport guys. While they aren't promising anything, they want me to get them a copy of the quote asap to see what they can do. While it sucks they fat one, if they can get this sorted for me I'll be happy enough.

Ninja,

Send them 2-3 quotes, if they don't know anything about bikes they wont believe the quote you send them as it will be far more than what they are expecting.

Semi good news. While not admitting any liabitlity they are coughing up for the excess. The exact quote after the eyeball 4K was $3583.

Careful mate, If they pay your excess then it's you're premium it's going to affect. Next years cover will be $$$$$$$.

Unfortunately you need to claim on their insurance. Might also mean you need to lodge a court action if they won't just cough up. Check with the local department of fair trading and their regulating body. Dunno if they have one tho.

IMPORTANT: Before you say a word, get it in writing that they will pay the excess. It's a method of getting them to admit implied liability. After all, if they didn't stuff up, why would they pay? Be really good if they send an email, maybe send them all the pics and see what you can get out of them as far a apologies, etc.

If you do have to lodge a claim, you will need to get statutory declarations from anyone who was with you when it was unloaded. That way they can't claim the damage was caused by you after shipping.

Before going wild doing any of that, call your insurance company and ask if it will affect your rating.... No point stirring the pot unless required...

Yeah it is going to effect my excess, but I just want the bike fixed and I've dealt with trucking cumpanies before to try and get money out of them. I'd still be here next year waiting. Yeah it sucks but I'm just cutting my losses.
