Dont dick around on the road , Do a superbike school or similar at a track . It will be the fastest way to learn about going round corners with confidence and in a pretty safe enviroment . No oncoming cars , no running wide into the wrong lane and generally a better enviroment to head off road if you really over cook things .
And all the while there will be a really good rider there (the instructor) who will give sound advice on your riding technique without any judgement or predjudice on how fast or slow you are . And it will be a lot of fun . Spend the bucks on a school day .
BTW a good move to take it easy through the Snowies when it was a bit damp . Thats smart riding .
Ummmm let me see

its a bit much to base everything on doing superbike school isnt it? sure, what they put into your head could well be relevant to some situtations that you might find yourself in on the road. (except for scientology.... ;) )

dont get me wrong, even though i've been to the track a few times, i've never done superbike school, but i do a hell of a lot of km on the road, and not around the city but out on the open roads like Bells, Putty, Wollombi, nasho, macquarie pass, and even further afield like northern NSW and down to victoria on weekends away. A day's run will see about 400km on the odo, sometimes 550km.

granted, the road's not the place to dick around on but if you want to be safe and make good headway on the road, you got to learn the road, more so if you hardly spend any time at the track.. like me... and get into a group of smart, sensible, safe and highly capable riders who will be happy to give you feedback and help with riding tips.

It's more embarrassing if you end up in the bushes and I'm speaking from experience  honestly I have never seen a group that gives shit who arrive last 8)
