this is the best description so far......MiG you have hit the nail fair on the head.

I remember the first time I picked up Streetfighter magazine many years ago......the common denominators of a *streetfighter* were these:

1-piece tube bars, generally with a really ugly bend, instead of clipons;

2-pissant little twin-headlight arrangments, generally flogged from some MX shitter;

3- single-seat conversions with a ducktail that pointed at the heavens......some look great, most look fully shithouse;

4 - a sick-as paint job.

5 -all other mods commonly found - engine swaps, big s/arms, etc etc - they all start looking the same after a while .. :roll:

Most of these mods were always found on trashed sportsbikes - not bikes that started life as a 'naked' bike.....

If [in January :) ] i put a Belly Pan on my Z750 it is no longer Naked, right? Then when i put the tidy tail, hugger and windscreen on it wouldn't that make it a fighter? If not do the new tyres (pilot road 2c's) since they are not reccomended by the manufacturer become a performance enhancement?

I really need this cleared up before i spend a fortune on bits....
nup.... it will still be a naked...

if it bolts on..its a naked...

if its fabricated/cut/drilled/bashed/made to fit...then u can call it a fighter...

a fighter is a bike which is significantly modified from its original form...

oh..my bellypan was due to go on soon..but i need tyres now... grrrr

Yeah I agree Mick.

ZR750 = A Standard bike
Z1000= A naked bike
ZX9R minus fairings, plus MX bars and other mods = Street Fighter

Well, that's how I see it anyhoo, not that it makes any difference, there all fun for different reasons!!! :D

A streetfighter has to be custom.... and if its not nearly impossible its just not custom.
I cant think of a signature.
