Silly Q: Working a Tyre Pressure gauge...
Silly Q: Working a Tyre Pressure gauge...
Hi All..
Just wanted to check something as I recently got myself one of those metal tyre pressure check thing... (ANSI B) standard.
Anyhoos, when I use it, I noticed that the dial slowly goes down.
Is that right? Or should it stay at where it is until I press the button?
Need to know if I have to return it...
Ta!

Most I have used remain at the indicated pressure until told to release!
I think it's brokeded!

Doesn't it depend on whether you're testing the pressure at the top of the tyre as opposed to the bottom...

Re: Silly Q: Working a Tyre Pressure gauge...
eh?
I don't think it make a different.
you put the gauge on the tyre, and then read it. then click on the button to make it reset.
To me it's as simple as that.

Go a decent quality digital.. I used high quality low pressure analog for years (0-60 psi) as the graduations are more accurate..Now digital only...easier and more accurate just dearer.

You been putting boiled eggs in your tyres again Dave?Gosling1 wrote:"Why Is It So ?" - ---- " Atmospheric pressure does the work...."

I hate the blardy servo tyre inflators, I usually try to go with the automatic ones where you dial in your pressure and it has the small attachment, buggered if I can get the big cumbersome ones onto the blardy valves on my bike.

Grab one of those 90deg valve stem adaptors from Hal next time you are in TJ's - I keep them in the leather jacket - just screw them on to the valves if you get stuck with one of those shitty servo pumps. They work ace !!

I use a liquid filled gauge that measures from 0-40 PSI, from the states, its the most accurate way to measure & does not require re calabrating...... any speedway shop sells the low pressure ones
