Re: Bring it back!!!
I use to nod all the time but not any more as I only do track days now so no time for nodding only a little chat in the pits.

Re: Bring it back!!!
HAHA had to chuckle at ratmicks Account a.k.a Bad and u know it harley rider.
I have to agree when i think Harley rider i think bush beard, tats, rats tail, leather vest, american flags, eagles and beer.
My dad who isn't a bikey also passed a funny comment that alot of these weekend warrior harley riders who have a REALLY plain but new looking harleys and the guy riding it is some skinny nerdy lookin bloke who is clean shaved with there jeans that have been ironed by there mum and some wimpy looking vest!
anyway back on topic i have to agree the nod is going out of fashion and i saw bring it back.
I don't bother with harleys, even tho i nodded at 2 today and got nothing back, but any sporty bike or soemthing that doesn't look weekend warrior i will give a nod and usually get a finger wave or a nod back
and i agree i feel like a tool when i don't get a nod back.

Re: Bring it back!!!
I reckon nodding or waving to harley riders is good as long as they are of the "live to ride, ride to live" generation, they have a bigger chance of nodding or waving back because they are the blokes who have been riding since before most of us were born, but the ones who are escaping their day jobs are mostly just snobs, no point even bothering with them, running around with their back patches that say "ftw" then on monday to friday they wear a jacket that says "you can get a great home loan from me, friendly service"
I cant think of a signature.

hell yea..as a kid i use to wave to all the bikes... so when i see kids waving i wave back...green10 wrote:When I was growing up dreaming of being able to ride a green machine, I got the biggest thrill when riders waved to me when I was sitting in the car with the folks.
Now I make a conscious effort to wave to all and sundry whether they be on a bike, in a car or standing at the lights in Cranbourne when I'm on my way back from PI after the GP/SBK....a little slip of the tyre also goes along way to please tha fans.....![]()
ive noticed a nice endo or wheelie also impresses the fans..especially the older, more breastical ones!!

Re: Bring it back!!!
Toy run was a great ride for a good cause.
All sorts of bikes from early Pom/Euro/Yank/Japs to current year models....
The general atmosphere was one of 'we are all here cause we love to ride' NOT we only associate with riders of X make of bike. There were all types of riders looking and appreciating bikes for what they are...
Crowds lining the streets were great... loved the bikes as we rode by.. Waves , nods and general appreciation from all including the men and women in blue directing traffic during the cruise
I had to
at macca's post though ... So true
I know "new" HD riders that will not talk to you when they are with their 'crew' .. Yet are your average ass licking sales types to you during working hours?!!
These are the type of tryhard non-conformist yet oh so uniform wanna be rebels of society (aka weekend warriers) I'm sure we all like to SMOKE !!

Re: Bring it back!!!
I have to say that I pretty much nod to anyone on two wheels. (Those damn scooters are getting so big you've nodded by the time you know what you're looking at!
)
When I first started riding, the comraderie was one of the things that I thought was great about the biking fraternity. It blew me away that every second biker nodded. Hence I've made a point to return the gesture to other bikers.
I was commenting last weekend that less and less riders are nodding though. Compared to when I first started riding there is a noticible decline in the bikers that will nod 'g'day'. I went on a solo ride over Mt Mee early Sunday morning- out of dozens of bikers I saw on the road, I counted three that nodded.
Maybe it's that damn Suzuki..............

Me too, just about fell off my bike last week when a Harley Rider nodded back-first one in 3yrs-we're all of us riders.
I find true bikies wil nod, posers with leather frills (how ghey) will not nod, as they are too cool for school.

Their loss, I will not stop for them when they are broken down again.

Yep, I've seen the same thing. I had to laugh a couple of weeks back riding out to Braidwood on the z650...the posers were spotting the round headlight and nodding, then doing a double take when they realised their mistake

I nod so much sometimes I feel like one of those big bobble head car nodding thing..
Sometimes I don't nod, only because I may have missed seeing another rider.
