Why can't my 9 jump up in the AIR???
Well,
i am trying to work something out, cause i just bought my 9 so haven't had many experinces with them. Now when i had the 6 it used to do power wheelies pretty easily so i would assume the 9 can do it. But for some reason i sit back on the seat on the 9 i go as hard onto the throttle as possible in 1st and 2nd trying to get the front to lift and it doesn't do it.... or it does but the front wheel will just float off the ground. now i don't know if it should or not, but another reason why i wonder this is because my mate has EXACTLY the same bike, same mods stock sprocket setup and he says if he does the same he will flip his.... Now i have tried also going part throttle backing off then breaking throttle on. Tried rocking it up.
I know it will clutch up.. But yeah just interested..
Now things i am interested in knowing is, a good mechanic mate of mine who works on kawasaki's all day and he gave the motor a good clean up carbs and all and said the motor was in good nick, so makes me think can't be the motor,
But the susp needs to be fixed up and is very soft atm, do u think that could be part reason why ? i mean its most likely me, but my mate with his 9 reckon he doesn';t have to try and he is basically lying over the tank and it still goes up.... where as i am putting in effort for it to come up
thanks guys!

should come up easy at about 4K, no use doing it under that as the torque kicks in about the then.
i have std sprocket sizes on mine 16/41, no problem

Soft shock will not help your mono intentions. The shock does its job of keeping the bike level by taking up the movement. Wind up the preload and damping and try again.

Re: Why can't my 9 jump up in the AIR???
yeah thats wat i am thinking, might stiffen her up a bit! actually another thing that made me notice how soft in the back it is, when i put the throttle into it the beam of the headlight u can see it raise up quite high, i spose an example is if a car is about 3 car lengths in front of me and i am travelling at normal speed the headlight sits at about boot level, then if i boot it the headlight will raise upto the rear vision mirror... think that is a bit soft, plus taking corners the bike isn't solid and smooth..... mind u front forks are cactus, but def think its time to tighten...

Yeah I agree with Photomike and Neka. If your 9 won't lift on it's own then there must either be something wrong with the engine or you're too soft!

Yep my old nine used to come up like a 16yo with his first stick book. Just wind the fun button on and away you go.

It should come up, its midrange is stronger than a 10
