I took my wife out pillion on Sunday and when we pulled up at the lunch stop she asked "Why do you bother nodding still when most of them don't nod back?"

I dont bother with Hardleys but anyone else I'll acknowledge
I've never had a nod from a Duke rider (I'm guessing their double soy latte has made their head spasm and they can only face to the front in a pseudo racing crouch) but I've had a couple from Harley riders. I'm guessing they were accountants acting out their "I'm bad and don't you forget it" fantasy, but slipped out of the role temporarily .
It has dropped away in the last few years, I rarely get a response and feel like a bit of a dill when it's not returned...but that's normal so I'll keep doing it.

I keep doing it, but it isn't returned real often
Mick...MAINTAIN THE RAGE mate!!! I do also and I figure if enough of us keep doing it we may encourage others to renkindle the cameraderie that used to be one of the strongest aspects of motorcycling in Oz!!
I wave to all bar Hardly Ableson riders as they usually have their heads fair square up there attitudes! I'll wave to scooter riders, Jap cruisers, Bm's, Ducks, Guzzi's and even chairs!!!! I even wave to enthisast car drivers in open toppers as I reckon they are only two wheels away from enjoying our freedoms!!!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
My head nods every time I twitch the throttle on the 10, does that count???? lol
I nod and wave to everyone regardless - gets interesting response for the 'Patch' crew. Doesn't really bother me if they don't nod back - it's possible they are concentrating on the road.
Yep. The simple nod, that little gesture that says G'day mate, I know your pain and your joy, we share a bond, if I see you broken down on the side of the road I'll stop to see if you're OK, that says if you need fuel I'll take you to a servo and bring you back again etc. It's what sets us apart from the average car driver.
...and nothing shits me more than pricks that don't nod back. I blame the mid life crisis lot and the cafe set, hence the lack of nods from Ducati riders and Harley riders.
I'm non discriminatory though and nod or wave to everyone including Mr Plod when he's on his bike ( I figure it might make him feel good and therefore less likely to be savage on some poor bugger he pulls over)
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Been doing the nod for 22 years & yes the return nod is declining but the last two years have been the worst thete are hardly any returns + I havent bothered with squids (dont agree with their policy) & there seems to be more of them these days so that counts out quite a few at the end of the day it is pretty much intrenched & a habit so I will continue to gve the nod regardless
