Re: My P's are approaching .... I have a question !
If you fail the obstacle portion of the test then all you have to do is pay something like $40-50 and do the 5 min obstacle course again the following week.Kwakka Kilt wrote:Thx for all the ideas, looks like it is going to be best to rent a bike, save me lapsing on my L's if I fail the P's due to lack of turning circle !
I can do slow and tight riding on the ZXR, due to filtering through Sydney traffic, but if I fail due to crossing lines etc, then I would have to do my L's all over agin, THEN repay for the P's again after another 3 months !
Better to just rent a bike that will allow me to sail through ??
However, if your Ls expire within 1 week of your booked Ps test then you have to do over your whole Ls course (not to mention the wait in booking another Ls training course could be a while since it is getting warmer). If this is the case you can't risk it. Just hire one of their CB250 and you should pass for sure. However, as someone mentioned in this thread, it takes time to adjust to a different bike.
Good luck but I am sure you will be fine.

Cool. If they still do it you might get a bit of Nasho on the road ride. Watch out for the stop sign at the Tram tracks as you leave the range on the road ride. It is a proper stop sign and some instructors will bin you for not stopping at it.
If you practise on your ZXR you'll kill it on the CBR 250 they'll hire you

I practised and practised but couldn't get the cones or u-turn on the zzr, so hired on of the cb250's. Sailed through, but kept anticipating on the emergency stop (due to tiredness and stress) and failed cos of that
.They really are easier to do the course on.
Next time I rode the zzr, and passed, but without doing the dreaded cones
(but thats another story).
If you are familiar with the Old Pacific Hwy, the whole course is marked out at the truck stop. Supply your own tennis balls.

Re: My P's are approaching .... I have a question !
I remember for my test I'd been practising all morning at a spot they used to do the tests at that had the lines marked...but with the older, smaller u-turn box marked out.
When I did the test, I looked over my shoulder at the tester who was standing inside the normal exit point as a reference, then did the u-turn so tight I nearly ran him over and he had to jump out of the way
I did it on my GPX cos that's what I was used to and had been practising on

Good advice here.
You have all day to practice before the test...if you're really worried I'd just hire one of their bikes as mentioned.
Most importantly don't forget the headchecks

Ironically you can fail your L's for not doing headchecks but not your P's. The instructor will point it out to you but so long as you don't do anything dangerous you'll be right. Having said that...do your headchecks they'll save your life one day.

Re: My P's are approaching .... I have a question !
I did my Ps a about a month ago and each headcheck you miss you accumulate 3 points. So if you miss 3 headchecks that's 9 points which is a fail and the instructor is not allowed to point out what you've done wrong until the end when they say "The test is complete, pass/fail" etc.Glen wrote:Ironically you can fail your L's for not doing headchecks but not your P's. That's how it worked for me anyway

Me too. Technically, I missed one.starlet wrote: each headcheck you miss you accumulate 3 points. So if you miss 3 headchecks that's 9 points which is a fail and the instructor is not allowed to point out what you've done wrong until the end when they say "The test is complete, pass/fail" etc.

Re: My P's are approaching .... I have a question !
During my P's someone was supposed to follow me (on public roads). I lost him within 200m of the start of the test (stalled). He rocked up about 10 minutes after I returned (I completed the test without him)... I think he was so embarresed that he passed me...

I was so nervous when the test began and I missed the first one! As soon as I took off I knew I missed it and was so angryDaisy wrote:Me too. Technically, I missed one.I did check - but he'd already seen me release the clutch.

After that, I made sure I made no more errors and I didn't
