Crashed.... Hard :(
Crashed.... Hard :(
Haven't had this bike for long (8 weeks to be exact, had a Z750 for a while before hand), and she's all dented. Sad
Went to a mates place to help him get his bike back to street spec, then went for a ride.
Turned left from East-West Arterial, onto Sandgate Rd (taxi in front of me). Taxi and i both went to the same lane. He was going slow in the left lane (doing about 20k's) so i decided to change lanes, indicated, accelerated.... and then the cab decided he wanted to change lanes in front of me.
If you know th ebit on Sandgate Rd im talking about (between Junction Rd, and East-West Arterial) theres on traffic island - just a painted white line.
So I got forced out onto this line, grabbed the brakes, and next thing I know im watching my bike go sliding down the road.
I dont know if I grabbed the white line, a cats eye, or just a pile of crap on the road, but between braking and hitting the road, it was all over in a split second.
Thankfully, I was in jacket, boots, back protector, and draggins, so the only bark off is a graze on my knee. Gear mind you has seen better days, and won't be getting used again.
Stupid car that changed lanes didn't see me, or see me go down, so they've kept driving. Much thanks to the people that stopped though.
Here's the pics of the damage.
My question is, will they repair the bike (see one of the pics) if there is a dent in the frame from the handle bars?.

Sorry to hear about the iff, at least you're around to talk about tt though.. re the bike, am ot an insurance assesor but plenty of faired bikes get written off for less, would think any damage to the frame means they'll write it off.

Ding in frame. Odds-on they'll write it off.ant wrote:Depends if insurance writes it off.
You ask. If they don't have to organise a tow truck to take it to a holding yard, then pay the auction house's fees to get rid of it, all the easier for them. Just make sure they don't screw you on the value of the wreck. Not sure how i go about getting it etc....
What I saw in a movie once was dudes pull off bits which survived the stack like the mirrors, headlights, instruments and bars. When asked by the assessor where those bits were, they'd answer, "Oh, at the bottom of that cliff/in the gutter at the instersection/all over the stretch of road where the stack happened, mate".
As for having to pay the excess... do you have a rego number of the vehicle which you feel caused you to fall off to give to the insurance company? If no, what do you expect?
Re: Crashed.... Hard :(
Not once did I complain, make a derogatory comment towards the other car, or anything like that.
As for the 'What do you expect', I know how it works, i have to cop it on the chin.

Bad luck dude. Tracky is a good option, but be careful 'bout how much they ask for it. I knew of an 04 zx6r that ended up going at auction for about $3k that they wanted $6.5k for to buy it before it went to auction. Farkers!

Bad luck mate.
It's not the fact that you didn't make contact, it's the fact you have no details.
If someone cuts you off and you crash in avoiding contact, it is still their fault. You would need an independent witness, though, and of course a way of identifying the other person (eg. cab number).

Sorry to hear about this. Its just down the road from me, I ride that road all the time. Good thing you didn't end up in traffic coming the other way.
Cheers

The person's behind me saw the cab, but didn't get any other particulars.
Were more worried about not running me over.
