LISTEN! Different bikes for different people!! It's not that difficult a concept.
umm i hate to be a wet blanket here... but *cough* valentino *cough* ..umm sum riders can get one one bike, ride the arse off it, then jump on another bike, ride the arse off it...

a good RIDER should be able to ride any bike at least well (if not great)... an average rider may ride one bike well, but struggle on others...

i guess this is why u test ride 3-4 bikes or more... u might be SHIT on a zx10r, but good on a R1... depends how good a rider u are tho!!

Kristy wrote: Yeah, unfortunately I'm starting to think that there are a couple of people on this forum who truly do just like the sound of their own voice, or... um...the sight of their own text??.. It has disappointed me greatly. Ross and I use some really useful forums to gain help and advice from some people who really know their stuff about our cars. These forums NEVER contain shit slinging, just genuine people trying to help. Don't get me wrong, I think 99% of the guys on this forum are also genuine. A small, few are just kinda old and nasty...that's all. I started this thread for advice, I didn't and still don't know exactly how a 10 will feel, and I have no intention to buy one before I have had a long ride on one. Who knows? I might hate it. I have said previously, and adhere to my words, I have read, considered and appreciated all of the opinions that people have given their time to share with me.

I don't think I'll look very cool on a bike I can't ride!
Kristy- the only reason u think this way, is that u dont agree with it.
The info guys like I-K and strika have given is correct and relevant... but since urself and Ross dont agree, u think they are being "know it all assholes".

They are escpecially knowledgeable (as are a lot of the other members on here)... it only got nasty when u guys started making silly reasons for the upgrade....

hence why i said previously... "if u want a 10, buy the thing, but dont make up bs justifications on why u bought it and ask us to support ur decision"

Are you familiar with the concept of "prerequisite knowledge"? Your Mrs is a teacher. She can explain it to you if necessary...
So what you're trying to say is you have no evidence to support your view.
No, I'm saying that you don't know enough about... well, a lot of things, not just bikes... to be able to follow an explanation. Prerequisite knowledge; you don't have it, as evidenced by the way the fact that you managed to look at a riding technique problem someone was having and come up with "I know what might fix that. A heavier bike!" as a result, and continue to fail to see that there was anything wrong with either your diagnosis of the problem or your proposed solution.
This particular mate didn't want to go through the hasle of buying a 600 getting sick of it than wasting money when it comes to sell and upgrade.
The correct response in those circumstances would have been, "You're absolutely right. You have it all figured out. Go forth with your brilliantly-conceived plan."
Otherwise I would have suggested a heavier 600
And you would have still been just as wrong.

What part of this is failing to sink in, and what does it keep getting stuck on? If someone, *anyone*, is having problems with steering their 250, the problem is their riding technique, not the bike. They need to address the problem by improving their riding, not by swapping to a bike which'll mask the fact that they can't really ride.
I-K wrote:
ross79 wrote:Not everyone wants to ride like Rossi, they're just happy to take things at their own pace on a bike they want. Whether that's a 250 or 1250 so be it.
That statement is at odds with someone who makes a habit of putting ideas into people's heads about what bike they should ride...
As I've mentioned previously, (maybe I need to type slower so you can understand). I just made a suggestion, you seem convinced I'm brainwashing everyone into getting bigger bikes.
No, you need to read slower, because it's obvious that you don't understand that the problem is not the forcefulness of your suggestion, but the fact that your suggestion is full of shit.
Just so you know, I told my other mate to stick to a 600 when it comes to upgrade, as he doesn't have enough self control.
So he's going to put himself in hospital on a 600 instead of litre bike, then, I guess...

...I need to learn to stop trying to help numbskulls get their heads around structured reasoning, so I'm going to summarise with the following...

...kid, I've seen enough to conclude that you haven't the first clue about how bikes work or what controlling them is about, and because you have a big ego (must be a turbo sportscar thing, I don't fucking know...), your both fail to appreciate this about yourself and fail to let it stop you putting ridiculous ideas you lack the knowledge to realise are wrong into the heads of people who know even less than you.

In a nutshell, stop putting ideas into people's heads. The type of advice you dish out. Gets. People. Killed. Once the amount of time you've been around can start being measured in years instead of weeks, you'll see that first fucking hand, and I'll get to throw my hands up and say, "Well... I tried." ...again.

Well only a couple of short days till the release of the all new wonder product, it does EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING
I heard it cures baldness and the common cold, and can be used as bearing grease and personal lubricant (but not at the same time).

A pertinent point... I wonder if Ross' mate checked the front tyre pressure on that 250 he was having trouble steering before he fixed the problem by buying a Blackbird...

Two things,
1. i don't want to get in the middle of this but that was the best call iv'e heard all year :)
2. We should just drop this thread now, as in my life the one thing i have learnt is that 1/3rd of teachers will never need any more information than what they learnt at Uni and when they do ask for help it is only so they can tell you that you are wrong and argue the point with you.

How do i know this? I have been Network manager at three schools, taught hardware A+ and networking at TAFE and was a lecturer in another industry for 5 years.....oh and my wife is a Kindergarten teacher....

Actually when Kristy does buy her 10 can we discuss the importance or otherwise of comprehensive insurance and who the best insurance company is. We haven't had one of those for a good week.

Although I do hear that with the imminent release of Yak fat security coding your bike is totally safe from scumbag thieves 8)

This isn't the first time I have heard of this Yak-Fat stuff!!! it's becoming a phenonemem!!! (spell) Can it be used as a tyre dressing to improve both tyre life and traction?????

Has anyone tried the yakfat multigrav system?

Does it really make your bike so heavy it can't be picked up? Also is it easy to incorporate it into the yakfat security coding system?

(Sorry for the late entry into the thread, but I only just noticed this thread - how on EARTH did I miss this monster???)

Hi Kristy,
I haven't ridden a 10, I have under 5 years of riding experience, and don't feel I have enough experience, riding skill, knowledge and information to answer your question, however if you don't mind, I have a question of my own:
At least twice, you have asked if there are any girls on this forum who ride a 10. I'd like to know why you're asking that, if you don't mind.
