Hmmm Should I really go nuts, as I need a new trailer.... just wondering if I should lash out to the max and get something along these lines..... or should I just stick with something like a 7/8 X 5 box trailer.........

Go nuts.... at least if you go out racing, you can sleep in a hotel at night and not dream someone is rifling through the stuff on your trailer.... also you can lend it to me from time to time.swabio-ACT wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ENCLOSED-MOTOR-BIKE-GO-KART-QUAD-CAMPING-TRAILER_W0QQitemZ160168271713QQihZ006QQcategoryZ9882QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Re: Should I go beserk.......and get this......or.....
I am leaning towards the Enclosed purpose built trailer.... as I am also considering upgrading to a second bike at a later date.... prob next year..... also, it will enable me to keep all my gear in the trailer all locked up and ready to go, that way, I can also keep the garage free of bike gear.... which will also enable me to put my car back in the garage......
Also, i am considering moving upto Brisbane in the new year, so will inevitably be making the odd pilgrimage back down to NSW for track days etc @ EC / OP..... so the benefits of the enclosed trailer are pretty high, it will definitely allow more gear to be stored out of the garage etc..... also if travelling down to EC / PI etc...... I can overnight without fear that my shit will get knocked off out of the trailer overnight.......

I bought an enclosed trailer a few years back when my young bloke was doing Motocross. Best thing I bought. You can lock everything up, you don't need to tie everything down, at the end of the day you whack your bike in and just chuck the rest of your shit in ,the bike will tie down really lightly, big ramp to ride up on etc. I actually used mine to store the bikes in up the side of the house as well. If you're stuck somewhere you can sleep in it.
They are brilliant. Make sure you can load your bike without it being hooked up to a car (this is pretty handy and most will do it)
They also hold their value really well. I bought mine for $3.500 sold it for 3,200 but had someone offer me $3,500 after I'd already agreed the earlier deal.

Lol it is only a 7x4... a bit narrow, as I want one that I can easily fit two bikes on.... as i am pretty certain that there will be another bike in the stable next year at some stage.........bonester wrote:Neil has a pretty good trailer he isn't using while he is in Nowra!I think it is an 8 X 5 too!

Basically what you have mentioned is exactly my thoughts on getting one...... although i had never considered the resale value side of the equation....Glen wrote:I bought an enclosed trailer a few years back when my young bloke was doing Motocross. Mate, just go nuts and get that uber-trailer !! Its a ripper, and as Glen says, you are unlikely to lose money on it over a couple of years.

Mate, buy a 2nd hand Ford/Mazda Van! We just handed over our 300,000+ klm work Van to a fellow Forum Member. It's cost us nothing to run it for over ten years. We paid $4k for it with 100,000 k's on it and the only real reason we got rid of it was that it was starting to rust and we made a commercial decision to buy a newie and get some write back! Said Forum Member has I think rid it of rust and fixed a few little issues and Voila of it goes again!!! They get about 10-12 litres per 100klms, which is far cheaper than hauling a trailer unless you tow it with a VW polo Diesel!!!
I had a Mitsubishi I used back in 1996/7 and it never missed a beat. I had it set up with a bunk so I could sleep in it while interstate also. I could fit two bikes in comfortably, three if I really had to. With a van, you can set the tie down points up so that the bike does not have any load on the springs. (I'll show ya if you buy one

Set it up with an annex for your own personal mobile pit bay!!! A genset and a compressor and you are in business!
