My dad has a few BT50s in his work fleet and I have to say that they're a great drive. Torquey, powerful and not terrible on the fuel. Most notably, it's REALLY smooth. We've got huge knobbies fitted to these ones and even still they don't do too bad with fuel.

Just signed on the dotted line for a....Ranger. Same thing basically as a BT50, just a bit cheaper with the local dealers special going.

Sorry essie, but I can't help you with your query, but I am interested to know how you found the Rav4. My Mrs wants one and will be looking at a second hand one.
What year etc is yours, any comments? Trish would only be using it for commuting and also to make access easier onto our property down south.

We have ended up doing a complete turn around and decided to buy a Prado! I really liked the Prado's for ages, and I was umming and ahhing about the ute. I was still browsing carsales, and then came across a one year old diesel Prado in Warwick, which we are buying and pick up later in the week!

NOW your'e talking matey !! We got a 3.4 petrol Prado back in 2003, its a 00 model. The closest thing to a brand-new car we are likely to own. It is an absolute ripper. It is a really capable off-road vehicle, as well as being Mum's taxi from time to time......

The bad news - spares cost a bomb. The good news ? You won't need many, they are so reliable.

The outlaws had one of them, traded it in on a new one but with one major difference - they bought a diesel the second time around. Fuel bills halved, so they tell me...

Yup, we bought a diesel as well. Plus the car, fuel, tyres, services, etc are all on salary sacrifice, so at least I won't be thinking as hard about the cost on our pocket! Unfortunately I did do all the sums, and I know what it will really cost me over five years...

Yeah, we traded our $24,000 (when new )car on the ute, got $6k as a trade in. Interest was $4k and we spent $4.5k on servicing/maintenance, and another $6k or so between rego and insurance. Dunno how much fuel we went through...but $1.5k a year (over nearly 6 years) seems at least reasonable. Taxi's are cheap in comparison
