If you're up for it I always advocate the bigger bike option. It only goes as fast you your right wrist. Wisc's glad I talked him into a bigger bike, now he's complaining it's too slow
There are many good reasons to go a smaller bike, such as it being easier to ride lighter, etc. Then again they don't last as long and not everyone likes the light feel of a 600. If you know you want a 1L or bigger then just buy it. That way you avoid wasting money when you want to get rid of the 600.

As mentioned, I have the ZX10R (05 model)... I would have prefered to have bought an 05 ZX6R...... the ZX6Rs are awesome..... and promote good use of the throttle... I think you lose a lot of education if you step straight to a 10.... I think people turn into "point and shoot" riders.... rather than being good at cornering.... Just my humble opinion ofcourse.

Plasma, Greeny and Neka gave me advice and told me to get a 600 even when all i wanted was to jump straight up to a 1000. I thank them for it too as I am learning so much for this 600 about throttle control and the speed is still very fast. I am really starting to grow on my 636 as time goes by as it handles so great and it has power....trust me, I cant keep the front wheel down in 1st and sometimes in 2nd.
Get a 1000 if you want but I think it will take longer to become a good rider and after you get a 1000, you got nothing to look forward to unless you want a busa.

No, it's all about the rider knowing their limits and choosing when (and how) to go beyond them. Ridden hard, a 10 is going to have limits way beyond what you are probably capable of dealing with - to start with, anyway.

Descending to the lowest possible level (move over for a sec, Neka ), this basically comes down to the same two old arguments - either:
* there is NO substitute for inches/centimetres (cubic ones, or cc, in this context); or
* it's not about how big it is, it's what you can do with it.

Like most things, it's personal choice which one you believe - and you can even believe both, depending on the circumstances.

While there is no such thing as to much power (I am thinking about a hi comp engine build for the 14 ) there is such a thing as to much throttle, it all depends on your right wrist.

Well then as 1000's go I have only got an r1 not a zx10. The r1 is an easy bike to ride but your weight can be a big issue I am a fat bastard (115kg) so the bike feels light and keeps the front planted, a friend of mine who weighs about 90kg has the front lift on him quite easily on the same bike on the same roads. I suppose what I am saying is know your bike and yourself before you get to excited with the trottle (that holds true for all bikes) and you should be able to stay safe. The 1000's may not be the best road bikes out there but they sure are fun!
