Hey mate, I purchased the Tom Tom One XL about 3 months ago and I must say its the best accessory I have purchased for the car by far. Couldn't live without it now.

Neka, I have a Navman 520i, bought it almost two years ago. Seen them advertised for 400 odd, they use the whereis software.
On the bike it went on my trip, it took me through sydney, canberra, melb and I used it in Adelaide when I flew down.
I still use it now on my road trips even though i know where I'm going because I can use it to judge fuel stops, I can see where the road is going in front which helps overtake people.
I think I've used this thing for about 50,000km, and absolutely love it.

We've got a Tom Tom One and it's a good thing. Got me around Adelaide for three days without missing a turn. Except for that stupid bloody one way freeway you lot have heading south :?

Hey Nath, why not make it a more versatile unit! I think it's Garmin who make the "ZUMO". It's a motorcycle friendly unit. It can be tranferred to the car instantly also! Apparently it can be used on the go with a gloved fingee, it's waterproof and all reports reckon it's one of the best available ATM. :)

i got your budget "road angel" brand one

its a bit scarey, its got peter brack tellin you to slow down... :?
for sum reason i always believe him...

its pretty good, uses whereis maps, which i have found tpo be a bit dated.
a few roads dont exist that have been there many years.

and it takes me on a happy drive everytime i've used it in Glenmore park, if any of you sydney siders have been thee, they will understand you need one if you go in there...

it takes you on some weird loops...

have a garmin unit quest, waterprrof for the bike , a little dated now but still does the job

tried the road angel and it lasted 5 minutes before i took it back to hardly normal

buy one and you will never be without it

did 2 weeks of service work in perth and took it over , punch the address and drive , no reading maps or worrying about getting lost , brilliant , worth every cent

my tip , dont buy on ebay, the savings just arent there to justify it for if it stuffs up or if you get stuck with old mapping

Have to agree with squash Neka tom tom one is good value for money, youd b askin for trouble with those unknown brand names, tom tom one has warning system were you can download paticular locations for speed, red light cams and school zones, not sure if others have the same, I think dick smith mite have a special on tom tom one

i just sold my tom tom one for $300, they're a great unit, but in the end they just make you lazy. funnily enuff, i can get around just as easily without it (i'm a 100-250km a day driver) and i actually remember where i've been and how to get back instead of relying on the outdated/just plain wrong maps to get me around.

okay, i'm probably be a little negative here  they ARE convenient and they CAN get you out of a quick spot of bother, but for me, it just wasn't right in the end. i reckon $20 for a recent melways is money better spent....

i always use to agree with u mate!!...its just that when we were in the middle of nowhere..the melways/gregory's didnt have directions... it was off the maps... and i didnt have my usual maps cos i wasnt in my ute (thought the mrs knew the way) ...and since i often go interstate for crap..well im always getting lost in melb....

GARMINS ZUMO is fantastic, sooo many features, but huge price tag.

When a GPS is purchased, always get the extended warranty. (I'm told they are expensive to repair)
