Stereo Test Rides the 07 ZX6R.

Post by Stereo »

In my quest to find my next bike I decided to give the current ZX6R a burl.

I waited with much anticipation for the Race Replica 07 ZX6R to arrive back because some hoon had been riding it for more than an hour.... He had hopped off'f his Crim (zx9r for those of you who are non KSRC compliant) and jumped straight on...

Things looked promising as he pulled to a stop with a giant grin going from one side of his helmet to the other.

I hopped on and gave it what for.

Having sold my 03 model ZX6R only a few days ago, the 07 was a definite contender for my hard earned cash. I had heard some banter about the new ZX missing a bit of torque at the bottom end....... bullshit....... it is missing a shitload of torque at the bottom end.... Where the 03 would wheelstand in first gear just by cranking it open completely, the 07 accellerated smoothly through to redline without the front wheel leaving the ground... with some testing the bike wasnt even inclined to lift with some encouragement... Having said that, it is by no means a weak motor.. From halfway through the revs all the way to the end the bike is a go-er, with a seriously cool tone to the stock exhaust..... something akin to a Ferrari Formula one at full tit. But I am pretty sure that in a straight line the 03-04 an the 05-06 would leave it behind...... I guess 36cc really does make a difference.

Having poked fun at the new engine, that is about all I can poke fun at.... this bike is a serious bit of kit.. Tipping into the corners this bike was like a cat on rails begging to be spanked... it was solid, steady and smooth as a babies bottom all the way through the turn.... It was by far the best handling experience I have ever... uhm... experienced.... If nothing else, this bike would be worth owning for just that reason!

The brakes on this bike are fantastic.... The 03 model was great, but the 07 beats it somehow.... and the front suspension takes it all very smoothly.

Comfortable too! more so than the 03 model, must be something to do with the seat shape.

On the road I would go with the 03-06 models...... but for a track weapon....... I would take the 07 by tonne.
The world is round. It has no point.

Nice read. Glad to know the newer bike has some good in it. The better they are the quicker 2005 model depreciates! And that's what I'm gonna get :D
