miSta's motorcycle accident :(

Post by mrmista »

heres some posts from other forums.. so i dont have to re-write it all... and not sure on dates... but accident was on 25th august 2007.

hey all. well 1 week and 1 day later i seem to be healing. not sure who knows me, or who cares to know me on here, but i nearly wasn't here to tell the story. :/ (and as i am still quite out of it, i'll keep it simple).

sat arvo ride ~4pm heading up ansteys hill (adelaide) i went for a ride with my father... overtook 1 car on a straight.... overtook another then lent into a r/h corner and.... welp from then on is GONE from my memory (i hope to remember, but wont hold my breath). seems the 2nd car i passed sped up and shunted me hard causing my tail light and rear pillion seat to snap off and be sent flying onto the other side of the road, meanwhile sending myself off the road in the other direction, into an embankment, launched the bike into a big >> (arrow) sign, flattening it, bike nose dived, i hit the front n got spat off in a big way.... and the car kept goin... did a runner.. the 1st car i passed saw it happen n stopped, then so did my father. i woke (very out of it) to find myself in hospital the next day.

im very lucky to be here, had severe concussion, severe whiplash... no broken bones (i dont know how) and i had/have short term memory loss (still too). my bike is trashed and the fscker left me for dead.

i'm coming good slowly but surely.. dosed up on pills n sleeping ALOT.

for all those that have sent me good wishes n visited... i thank you.

anyways.. enuf dribble, and more rest time.

check the pics out Sad

hey all, tis the mista (again)... im slowly gettin there... been sleeping most of my days away to try and recover.. i dont think ive ever slept so much in my life... the painkillers zonk me out... and remove the pain, so thats a good thing. uhm... im slowly but surely becoming coherent again day to day.

as for the accident... cops did attend (and ambulance of course)... but upon speaking to the coppa that attended (and did the report at the time)... he noted just that i missed the corner n wiped out.. f&@%*. the witnesses told em that there was a car involved... they saw it speed up as i over took it, when i got back into the lane and lent the bike r/h into the corner (i was doin ~120kph ... speedo stopped at 190kph on crashing) is when the f**ker hit me pretty hard... cos my tail light and rear seat snapped an went flying onto the other side of the road... and over 10meteres to where the bike ended up laying on its r/h side.... and my rear seat frame was pushed over to the r/h side.... if it landed on the r/h side.. the seat frame should be pushed to the l/h side. eh. any way... my father spoke to the witnesses... and they confirmed the vehicle (but not rego.. (but he has that now too... proving it is another thing)) and were 99% sure i had been hit, but the coppa still refused to change his statement and police record.... the coppa asked my father when speaking to him 'what are you getting out of this?'.... that coppa is a wanker. when im better and more coherent, i shall be visiting the cop shop and speakin to a higher ranking officer to sort this shit out.

anyways... thanks all for ya concern.. i am slowly gettin better.

How did you manage to get the rego?

well my father went for a ride on the weekend after my accident, up the hills the same way... and by a 'very lucky chance'.... the same car was ahead of him in the distance... driving crazy.... speeding, passing double lines, blind corners etc... so my father caught up (but stayed behind the vehicle) took note of the car (the description the witnesses gave of the vehicle matched this vehicle nearly spot on), anyways my father remembered the rego and when he stopped he wrote it down. so it looks like the vehicle frequents the area often... still not sure what the cops are gonna do bout it all, cos they refuse to listen still... and until im well enough to venture to the cop shop to try sort this out... nothing is being done. Sad

im slowly gettin better, from what i was on the day of the crash till now. ive come from feeling 1% (yes absolutely f&@%*/trashed Sad ) upto i'd say.... 60% at the moment, and its 1 week 5 days since. i still have a very sore neck/back/arm/hand, and i feel 'tipsy' all the time. memory is slowly gettin there too, im retaining more short term than i was before hand, so things are lookin up for me.

hey again... update time... well i'm still resting up heaps, but slowly getting better... more (and different) pains in my neck/back each day... they seem to move all over the place. i'm slowly getting movement back in my neck and still walk with a lil hunch, cos its f&@%* sore still. short term memory is gettin there.. still forget shiat though Sad still dosed up on painkillers 3 times a day plus any paracetemol if i need as extra. but yeh, getting there... and it sux too cos its my b'day soon, and my 'party/gathering' is on this saturday (tomorrow) and i wont be able to stand for long, or drink any scotch. Sad but i thought f@*% it.... i aint gonna cancel it... and in 2 weeks (f@*% knows how) but ive managed to go from feeling 1% upto at the moment, probably 70%, so yeh.. i think i'm more head strong than i thought Razz

oh and i forgot to mention (i know i would have been speeding at the time to overtake the car that spat me off the road) that the coppa gave me a charge of 'failure to control vehicle' or some shit. was a $120 fine or somethin. duh the car hit me off the road ffs.

and to all that have said 'well' wishes to me... thank you alot. nice to see the motorcycling community sticking together.

-a still sore (and in pain) miSta'
-aka Jaes.

that'll do for now... :) you get the picture by now i think. :(

That sucks, fella! Glad you're coming good and I hope your attempted murderer get fucked up by a B-double on one of their carn't runs! I wonder though - it's possibly not the first time they've done that shit. After all, you wouldn't really know what had happened if there hadn't been witnesses. Might be worth looking into motorcycle wipeouts on that stretch of road - might get the disinterested plod to pay attention if it looks like they have a repeat offender that they haven't done jack about.

Otherwise.. well, as robracer observed, there's always the personal touch.

man that sucks, at least your in relatively one peice though.

r.e. the driver of the car who's an asshole, may i suggest your old man have a camcorder attached to his bike to show the behaviour of the guy in question, just remember to have him use a blank tape & not do anything silly on it himself before he finds mr knobby ;). It wont prove he did it, but it will prove that the guy has a tendency to be a f*kwit on the road.

The cop that is giving you the neg driving charge, sounds like he is doing a "cop out" (excuse the pun) as its likely to be a shitload less work for him if he blames you for coming off on a right hander. Speak to a senior Sargent and don't be shy about making a complaint about his behaviour whatsoever.

good luck with getting out of hospital, i imagine as its a neck injury, aside from dealing with aches and pains they've got you under observation as who knows what else will happen.

What can I say? Good to hear you have no broken bones. Sounds like you need to find some mates with a V8 F-series & go play with this car driver  , well at least justice would be served on the correct people rather than the simple : Motorcyclist looses control @ excessive speed F##KEN COP-OUT
Know anyone in the Outlaw gangs down there? They are handy connections sometimes.

Mate I crashed my 3mth old ZRX on a roundabout covered in deisel, single vehicle accident though. I then got a lift home to tell the missus, before phoning an ambulance to take me to hospital (broken collarbone). Could still smell the deisel in the back of the ambulance going back through the roundabout 1 1/2hrs later, my jacket /jeans were coated in deisel. The motorcycle tow service was picking up my bike some 2hrs after the accident, when the cops drove around the roundabout, didn't stop, then went back to the copshop to report it. When I put in an insurance claim the police disputed the deisel spill, said it was never there. Guess they would actually have to do some work if they admitted it was there  . Any way the witness who stopped & gave me a lift home, the towtruck driver & the Ambo's all collabareted my story to the insurance company ( A big thanks to SWANN INS for being easy & efficient to deal with). Shame police can get away with BLATANT LIES.

Hope you get it sorted in your favour :)
