Re: Just about the only thing the bastard has gotten right
Smoke and mirrors. Eric Roozendal is the ALP's former state secretary for NSW. Before he slotted into parliament, his job was to work behind the scenes to make his party's sitting members look good. Now that he's in office himself, he's presenting himself as resisting pressure from the RTA to introduce unmarked speed cameras.
If NSW had a secret police service whose officers were authorised to beat people at will with truncheons, the RTA would still be the most hated government organisation in the state. Any politician who appears to go along with that perception is going to generate a positive reaction from the less analytical sections of voter-land.
Meanwhile, we already have police-operated car-mounted cameras. Most of them are in unmarked police cars, and the "SPEED CAMERA IN USE" sign which, by legislation, has to be placed *before* the car ie. behind it, is usually found under a bush 100m down the road; "If we put the sign behind the car, the officer can't see it, and cahns'll steal it. So, we put it in front."
We already have hidden speed cameras.

Hey here in tassie all speed cameras are hidden
They hide there cars in bushes on the side of the road and put the cameras behind guard rails & bushes and stuff they also have them mounted in the back of vans
They dont need any signage at all and the worst part is they never put them on black spots but on the main hyway just to make money out of them the f**kers

It's a speed thing if you have to ask, you wont understand
