Terrifying bike crash (no gore - worksafe)
I was browsing this great news site for bike stuff worldwide and I found this - a demonstration as to why we all need to be careful on the road and not try to be heroes.

Nothing states what happens to the people involved, but I would assume the news is grim after something like that...
Ride safe!

Well that was the bike with the camera on's fault. He should not have been riding on the centre line.........

It's a youtube link - you'll need the latest flash player. It's embedded on the webpage I posted above directly under the text 'CRASH!'

I have had that happen to me twice. Once at 100+ and then another slower one maybe 80kph. I relived them watching that!!!!

Re: Terrifying bike crash (no gore - worksafe)
The rider with the camera is a bloody dickhead riding well over their limit (I hope Neka is wrong about the other rider dying).
I am a P-Plater so I have plenty to learn (I am reading bike safety sites and Twist of the Wrist vol. 2, god I love bikes). Why did they overtake a car before a turn in the first place? When the rider narrowly missed the first rider, looked like he/she panicked and went wide on the turn. He/She sees that they are riding into the path of another rider and instead of turning, panics and rides straight into the oncoming rider. Probably focussed on the oncoming bike rather than looking at the exit.
This video emphasizes the importance of emergency counter-steering. If they both pushed forward hard on their left hand and leaned like there was no tomorrow (even in the last moment) then could this have saved the crash? The camera bike looked like he/she went wide and just said "oh fcuk" and went straight into the oncoming bike. No indication to show they even tried to turn the slightest.
If anything I said is wrong please reply/discuss. I have never put myself into a position where I had to use "emergency counter-steering"; only read about it and would love to learn from veterans.
Also, there is a clip of the crash from the point of view of the car that gets overtaken just before the crash.
Here is the clip from foreign news report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGd5itUf8bI" target="_blank

the overtaking manouvre could of been pulled off safely by a decent rider... he did panick, picked it up and got on the brakes..sumtimes fear takes over and thats what happens..had he leaned he may of avoided it..will never kno...
the point is, a good rider could of made that pass safely..HE couldnt...
Learn YOUR limits and stick to em..ur mate might just be better than you!!
