when did kawasaki go FI???

Post by kellz »

ok so im begining the search for a new bike..

i want to stick with a kwakka as i love them so much.
but the boyfirend is insisting i get a bike with fuel injection..

so what year did the 600's go FI and what are the known problems if any?

i know this sounds like a silly question, but you brainy lot out there can help me better than google. :D

this will also be a project bike, so im gonna be buying a repairable write off of some sort.

thanks in advance guys

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the fuel injection started with the 2003 (super agressive bodyshape).

I'm lazy and I'm just going from memory. 8)

Personally I prefer carbs.

alex prefers to work on FI.. and since he will be doing most of the work on it i thought better get something he prefers to work on..

budget well dont have one, i can spend what i want as long as the bike worth it and its a good deal.

but i dont want a brand spanking new bike either.. so i guess im looking pre 05

Why the unhappy face? Would you prefer a "first gen" FI setup with all the little bugs and problems that they eventually iron out with model updates. Our (yep have an '02 as well) bikes have one of the best carb setups around and outright (not peak) performance that is only just being being surpased now, some 5 years later. Not to mention a seating position that sees 800ks in a day like a walk in that park, and the ability to cary a pillion. IMHO the '02 6 was the best "600" every built relative to its time (although I'm open to arguements that '96 or '05 are up there). It does everything really well without being extreme in any one way and I'm glad that its not held back by an early implementation of FI, unlike the others of the same year. I'd glady trade off the hassle of cracking the choke a fraction on cold mornings instead of a dodgy on/off throttle response or the "stepped" response of early, low bit count ECUs.
