Och Aye All !
Whaddya reckon guys, I need to maybe swap out the rectifier / regulator on my wee beastie, and was wondering if this one would work as an alternative ??
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=002
(It's cheaper, suits me being a Scot !
)
I'm not bad around a soldering iron, so I can make good joins with the cables, but is 35 Amps a high enough rating for a bike regulator ?
Other thing is, I can't find a regulator for the ZXR250 anyway, so if this works it's smiles all round ......
Cheers.

it'd do the job just fine, just make sure that its in a place with enough air flowing over it, ... or just hook up a pc fan to the ignition and attach it to the heatsink
If it hurts, you aren't doing it right.

dunno mate... dunno wot the stats on a factory one are... only problem is if its not right, ull be up for fuses (cheap) a battery ($30-70) possibly a stator $300+ (cbr ones are $600) if it causes problems...

Thx guys, yeah was worried that I would melt my loom !!
But I reckon a rectifier only screws your circuit if the diodes go into meltdown, shoving full bore battery power down the nice thin cabling ....
I'll see if I can track one down, if not might not have a choice ......

Just having a look at my zzr 250 manuals which has these specifications:
Charging System
Type: Three-phase AC
Charging Voltage (regulator/rectifier output): 14.5 +0.5/-0.5 V @ 4000RPM
Stator Coil Resistance: 0.2 - 0.9 Ω (I think that stands for Ohms, please correct me if i'm wrong)
Anyway I hope this helps.
Cheers

Thx for the info Ben, Just managed to get a rectifier from another KSRC member, awesome
Going to mount it in the next 2 weeks, give the battery a good charge up, and see if the battery is getting around 14 volts charge once running.
Fingers crossed, had enough bump starting the wee beastie
Stu.

Took off the rectifier couple of weekends ago, blackened / charred pins, and one half melted plug to the loom - Defo a rectifier on meltdown !!
Thank Gawd I caught it in time, have heard of looms going into meltdown in worse cases ......
Thanks for all your help.
