Custom Mapping

Post by aus636 »

Has anyone used Power House at Nerang to do a custom map? Were you happy with the result?

If you use steve you will be happy, if you use Alex you will be happy :)
You can also use Fred at Serco, he's the official australian person for power commander/dynojet (ok i admit it he did mine too, and I'm very very happy :D )

Go to LAE racing.

Or take the risk and use Powerhouse.

Well Power House did my map August last year and everything is sweet. Just changed the plugs 7000km after the map and they look great. The 636 just powers right through the rev range starting from 3000rpm in any gear. i also syncronised the throttle bodies and man that makes a huge difference to the performance. I am currently thinking of a damper and rearsets no real need for the damper but a ohlins looks great on the tank.

i dont like to piss on someones parade, but i had a very bad experience with powerhouse, so bad in fact, i would never reccomend or take a bike there again.. but hey thats just me, the guy i bought my bike off had the mapping done by them and my 636 has plenty of poke, but afaik he was good mates with them so i guess they took proper care of it! (dyno'd 116.7 hp atw btw he gave me the sheets)

when i took my 250 there they stuffed it, took it back twice, was still fucked, never bothered taking it back again, wasted 160 bucks, ended up fixing it myself (was a fuelling issue) had the thread into the frame that holds the tank on stripped out and they just sat the bolt in there thinking i wouldnt notice :? and a few other things were damaged but hey its all water under the bridge i guess .. but like stretchy says .. at your own risk. Also steve has always been probably the rudest person on earth to me whenever i have walked in there .. all i get is a 'what the fuck are u doing here' attitude, and that was even before i had issues. Some people skills wouldnt go astray eh. So yeah i have no idea how people reccomend them so much .. cause like i say multiple occasions, treated like shit, had my bike fucked etc wtf but whatever

This is the 5th bloody time I've tried to reply to this :( Keeps booting me out..

Mitch I understand how you feel, after the shit treatment I recieved and had my bike damaged by a certain shop I know how pissed off you feel, and trying to do something is pointless as they don't care. Actually went out of their way to cause trouble
Surprised to hear that about Steve, I know his people skills aren't the best, but really surprised to hear about the bike, that really sucks :(

Alex had a go at sorting my bike, he was nice and polite and didn't damage it :)

I'm still biased towards Fred, probably cos we work for the same company  But he does know his stuff.

I hear where you are coming from bikes are so personal we take it hard when we don,t recieve the service that is expected. i had an issue with a mechanic shop that serviced my bike and now that is why I do all the services where possible. Check out the DIY home service thread I posted in General Tech Talk.

I have had bad experiences with Powerhouse but not as bad as my friends.

One mate had his forks kitted costing $800 and after a crash had the forks redone by a different shop and found stock springs in there.

Another had a quickshifter fitted but it wasnt working for him so i had a look and found they hadnt changed the default settings, was cutting the bike out at very low revs which caused him to have a lowside. After i fixed it he went 3.5 secs quicker per lap at QR.

His personal skills certainly need some work.

After my bad experiences 2 years ago i started telling people not to go there and the above incidents happened in the last 6 months so i guess thing havnt changed.

Not good dude. They only did the custom map for me and seems OK. Again that is why I will try and do all the servicing work myself where possible or I will remove the part and take it in for repair.

I would also recommend LAE Racing, but I have also heard someone else's really bad experience going there. Never had any issues myself, but I always ask (politely ;)) that Alex be the only one to work on my bike, not the other blokes
