Blood Chalenge - Hands up everyone able / interested VIC

Post by Slow and wobbly »

Just looked at the Red cross website and saw they have they're winter chalenge starting on the 1st June.
"This winter Australia needs more than 270,000 blood donations to ensure that hospitals have enough blood and blood products to meet the needs of patients.

The Winter Blood Challenge is about organisations – big or small, business or social – giving blood in healthy competition."

I will contact them via phone tomorrow re: registering KSRC as a social group. I want to know how many people are able to and willing to give blood. Those that have been around in recent weeks will know of other discussions having taken place regarding this subject. Now lets put up or shut up.
Please post a reply ONLY if you are able and willing to donate.
I am away on work all this week and hence wont be able post again until thurs / fri, I will however update this thread as soon as I am able to.

As previously mentioned I donate every 2 weeks regardless of whatever challenges are about. Be nice to know if I have an accident and need blood I can get some of my own back, although chances of that are minimal really given platelets have ashelf life of 3 days and plasma 2 weeks :)

Finaly home.......
KSRC registered as a social group, still awaiting details via snail mail as to how it all works. I could only register for Vic donations though so if there is anyone from other states that wants to organize their own local mob then please go to http://www.donateblood.com.au/page.aspx ... &parent=32
More details when I know

relapse this week, more bleeding. She had a clot that weighed the same as 6 litres of blood on her lung which collapsed it, then she started bleeding again. She went back to being on an hour by hour survival. She's now critical but stable, it was a major setback.

KSRC is now registered with the Red Cross for the challenge. So please everyone that is even slightly interested in giving blood then visit http://www.donateblood.com.au to find out the all the facts before making an appointment at your nearest centre. When donating tell them you are from KSRC and ask them for the form so that your donation can be marked on the register Alternately I will organize a group appointment for sat 7th july. I need to know numbers at least a week before to make the appointment. Afterwards coffee somewhere and a ride depending on how everyone is feeling.
To keep track of how we are doing then visit http://www.donateblood.com.au/page.aspx ... 0c22%20asc
I see Netrider are also registered.
