I'm a huge Rossi fan, and if it isn't already obvious by the name I gave my son, a huge Stoner fan aswell.... Bumped into Casey at Cowes a number of years back and he was the most likeable young lad who was more than happy to chat for a minute or so.

I was a great race from Stoner but he could only ever pass Rossi on the straight. Admittedly he was able to hold Rossi off better than any one has done in years but Rossi did pass Stoner a few times under brakes and into corners. Stoner needs to be able to do that back to Rossi before he can be serious about winning the championship.
Rossi will still win the title.

You can't be serious. Rossi is far better than Doohan was.Neka79 wrote:i just abt did my load in the space of seconds... Stoner World Champion 2007 !!
Rossi can't ride. He runs wide all the time. He also keep passing the suzuki on the straight.

Not so. Stoner picked where he could pass safely. Rossi had two corners where his bike was better under brakes, and even then Stoner went through in an over/under fashion a few times. The kid can RIDE.ZXR750 wrote:I was a great race from Stoner but he could only ever pass Rossi on the straight. I don't know which of the two will win the championship. Until this race I thought Rossi would walk away with it.

Sure Rossi passed him those few times but atleast 3 times, Stoner got straight back infront because Rossi was to hot for the next corner.ZXR750 wrote:I was a great race from Stoner but he could only ever pass Rossi on the straight. Stoner noticed the places that Rossi could pass, so he braked late aswell.
Did you see when Rossi had his left leg hanging out cause he was gunna move up the inside but realized Stoner had braked late aswell?
And l think that l would rather a bike that was 10km faster around each corner than a bike that was 30km faster down the straight.

It was a brilliant race in the true sense of the word. Stoner has certainly got nerves-of-steel and world champion natural talent. Val didn't have much choice but to make a move whenever he had the chance to get past, and opportunities are pretty limited. If he wasn't able to make it stick because he'd come in too hot for the next corner it means they were really racing to the limits of the bikes. Give Rossi equal horsepower down the straights and he would've won it.
How sweaty were they both in the post-race interviews?!?! It must've been full-on out there! I was glued to the TV. Best race in 2 years!
Hayden who??

You folks must have been watching a different race. Sure Stoner went passed Rossi a couple of times down the straight, but he also stuck it up him plenty of times in the corners.
And it's all well and good to go banging your chops about the extra horsepower, but how many other Ducati's with the extra horsepower did you see fighting it out for the lead?
Sure, Ducati have obviously made a great bike, and the extra top speed of that bike is helping Casey win races, but they've made the bike under the same rules as every other manufacturer.

JB has never said that Rossi is a better rider than Doohan. Although, he has backhandidly suggested it a couple of times.ZXR750 wrote:You can't be serious. Rossi is far better than Doohan was. Even Burges thinks so.

The Ducati doesn't have that much of a top speed advantage anymore anyway...certainly nothing like in the first round. Rossi had a few goes out of Stoner's draft down the straight, particularly because he carried a bit more speed onto the straight and seemed to be able to brake later. Pedrosa's Honda seemed to be pretty quick in a straight line too.
