you see it in movies and you hear about it when your friends or maybe even other family members do it...but say you're stuck in the position....you're out of money, you work, but can't make enough to fix anything...you're s/o is in the same boat. you have to (sell the house and) move out. you can't afford to go anywhere...not even a shitty ass apartment.

so, the two of you consider a choice...either move back in with your parents or move back in with your s/o's parents....it seems it will be the only way the two of you can save up some money to get back on your feet and back on top.

but who would you choose?

I'd move in with my parents over my in-laws any day. Both sets of parents are as mad and as the other, and each has their pro's and cons. But, my parents have management rights, which includes a squash court & pool here in Brisvegas, and Jeff's parents are in dry, cold Geelong. There is no way I am moving to Geelong to move in with his parents in their cigerette smoke infested house!!
Cheers,
Anne

Was in the same situation once.. intrest rates here hit the roof & I was forced to borrow more money to sell at a loss & spend the best part of a year at the inlaws whilst paying off the money borrowed to get out of the morgatge... what a downer ... the sadest part of my life! & we were in a 3 bedroom house with her mum...(mom) her step dad, her 2 grown grown up brothers & our 1 year old....life pretty much sucked for that year, then we started renting once all the debts were paid off. so there is light at the end of the tunnel ..... it just may be a long tunel :?

well my parents are divorced, my dad remarried a new york nutbag, my mum is moving to newzealand in a couple of years with her bloke. My girlfriends parents are divorced and we only just cleaned out her old room, so that seems the most viable option if it ever came to the crunch.

We lived with Mum & Dad for a year in order to save some money when Jeff first moved to Brisbane in 1998. We were lucky as they had a HUUUUUGE Old Qlder house at the time, so we had downstairs which had been converted to a granny flat to ourselves - our own front and back door, bedroom, lounge, bathroom, and wandered upstairs for meals and the occasional socialising with the family. I think Jeff was VERY glad to move out though, my mother has nagging down to a fine art!
Cheers,
Anne

Monica and I lived under her mum's house for abut 9 months while we saved for a house deposit...

Fark it was cold down there in winter.
