What gets you in?

Just wanting to everybodies opinion on what makes you want to walk into a dealership and make you come back. (For future references)

Thank you for asking.

1. The salesman must actually acknowledge me (just a "hi" or a "how are you doing")... EVEN if he/she is busy with another customer.... It lets me know that they know I am there and will get to me when they are free. (yes this is a dig at 2 well known kwaka shops).

2. If I am browsing, and they ask me if I need any assistance and I say "Just browsing thanks" they need to leave me alone... BUT... they should not just walk off without saying anything.... that just says to me "you arent going to spend money, so I dont care about you".

3. The shop needs to have something on special. No point in going back into a shop if there is nothing different next week.

4. Variety.

5. Good advice.

6. Hot chicks and free beer.

I agree with Stereo!

Acknowledgement is a big one for me... I don't care if they just give me a nod, but anything is better than nothing.

Good specials never hurt either.

Oh, and they have to know what they're talking about. I asked the spares guy how much the seat cowl he had hanging on the wall was, and he couldn't even confirm what model bike it suited...

I rarely go into dealerships though. Was in a dealership last weekend for the first time in about 8 months i reckon...

Havent been into dealerships in ages, and team moto was the first one i've been into for ages. SCM are "ok", more of a serve yourself or drag a sales rep off someone else kinda place, but everyone at team moto was polite and asked if i was alright. I had a sales rep come up to me within 10 seconds of looking at the KBC lids and was very polite and helpful.

Amazingly said "fair enough" when i mentioned i couldnt justify spending over $200 for a lid at the moment, and was happy to keep helping me and asking if there was anything else they could assist me with. Definately agree with stereo b.t.w.

Bike to test ride
None of the high pressure "I'll only give you a price if you're ready to sign now" shit (I walk out if they come at that crap)
Sales people who know what they are on about.
Good follow up. If you say you'll get back to me then do it.
A willingness to get to the "right" price. ie the one that makes sense to the buyer, doesn't have to be the cheapest but if it's not then the offer has to be better than the other bloke. That may mean I just have more confidence in the dealer.
I hate sales people that are vague. When I ask for the price and availability that's what I want not a whole heap of if's.

+ salespeople that don't talk to you like your an idiot.

I'm sick of going into shops, dealers or others, to have some knob who looks like hes had his licence for 5 minutes telling me what I should or shouldn't buy..

I have the internet so I already know everything...

at the end of the day, I'll put up with all that, if the price is right...

Yep mate as above, a nod or gday when you walk through the door, even if they are with someone. I know i wouldn't be pissed if i was in the middle of the deal and my sales guy said "gday, i will be with you shortly" to another customer. I would lose count of the amount of times i have gone looking for bikes and stood there in plain view for twenty minutes and then walked out because no one would even acknowledge me.

I have been saying for a long while if someone can open a bike shop with GREAT service, they will make a killing, round my area anyway. the last two things i have ordered i have had to get a part number off the internet or ring the distributer and take it in to the bike shop and say 'Please order this from here...."

I know the service thing is very hard, you can try all you want but you are still relying on your staff to follow your lead, and good staff are very rare in any industry.

Dont treat me like an idiot and dont bullshit to me.

To me a good bike will sell itself you either like it and wont it or you dont and if they come to the party on price, cause you can bet I've done my home work and haven't walked in blind, I'll buy it .

Good customer service.

When I first got to Aus I was considering buying a road going super motad, and hastened into a KTM dealer. I went up to the counter and enquired about such bikes. The guy pointed vaugly and said, "they're over there". I walked straight out the door and into the next dealership up the road. That afternoon I was $10k worse off and the owner of a CBR600 + kit.

I don't want to be hastled when I'm looking, but if I ask for service I expect to be treated like I'm the only person in the shop.

I like that the owner was willing to talk to me for 20 minutes after he knew I wasn't buying. Now when I go in there all the staff know who I am, they remember what I ride and if I want something they don't have they will order it on the spot and phone me as soon as it gets in. (Usually overnight) The price is always right too.

Its just a bloody shame I'm not talking about a Kawasaki dealership.

a salesperson taking me seriously is a big thing especially being a chick...

i am currently looking at 600's and i get that oh its a big bike you sure you can handle it shit..

if i didnt think i could i wouldnt be looking.

take me seriously, treat me the same as u do the male custoomers as i am the same, im a motorcyclist who is looking at spending money in your shop to buy a bike if your nice and curtious to me. if no ill go find it privately..

a good range of stuff for women is a must aswell, no we dont want to wear the same jacket as our best mate, if guys gets a good range we want it to.

othewise the same as everyone else has said..

but i do find if i walk in with alex or my dad i get a better response than if i go in alone, and even then they still give me a weird look when we say the bike is for me..
