Do VIN and frame numbers differ ???

Looking at purchasing, and do kawasaki au keep a record of of all bikes sold with engine no, frame no, and vin no, probably being over cautious but you never know :?:
Is it worthwile contacting Kaw Aust for this info :?:

it cant hurt, they keep some numbers, the question remains how far back do they go... I guess you can always ask if the pair match not necessarily who owns them (privacy laws may be a hiccup for the latter)
