I'm thinking of fixing it up myself too, but with my limited knowledge on fixing bikes I prob can't do much. Thanks for offering to help, I'll definately need it.
Let me source for the necessary parts, that would take some time, and I'll drop u a pm when I'm ready. :)

I got a quote for a set of BT45s tyres.
Rear --> $160(tyre) + $30(installation) = $190
Front--> $120(tyre) + $30(installation) = $150

Is tat resonable? Are there shops in Brisbane which sell the same tyres at a lower price?

Most of the guys here use Mick at Goodna check other tyre posts for his details. I prefer Tyres for bikes out at Blacksoil as they are easier to get too damn cheap n Scrub the wax coating off with a dye grinder. Put a pair of bt45s on mates zzr250 n it cost $280 fitted from memory.

Lisa, thanks for the info.

I'm damn fed-up now...
Yesterday about 4pm, the bike ran out of fuel, so I pushed it to the BP at RBWH. Top it up full tank (~18 litres) and the bike couldn't start. So I rang up my mechanic for help, he gave me some instructions to try to get the bike to start, but it didn't work. So we decided that he'll pick up my bike today morning.
I left my key and contact numbers(me n my mechanic) wif the servo staff. Everything was fine......untill the BP staff rang me up at 8pm and told me tat my bike was leaking fuel! :!: And he(the BP staff) already called in the fire brigade, becoz it was too dangerous. By the time I rushed down(15 mins later), the firemen already had my tank removed and splash alot of white gravels around my bike to soke up the petrol. The tank only had about 3 litres of petrol left in it. We pushed the bike to a safer corner at the servo and left it there for pickup this morning.
I went to see the bike at my mechanic just now, everything (engine, carbie, air filter) is soak in petrol. And tat will cost me about another $300.
Bad luck, bad luck... :(

That Blows mate. So is the tank split or what ?. $300 sounds a bit dear for a new air filter n I'm pretty sure thats the only thing petrol may route ?. If the firies sprayed crap all over it that would cost a more to strip down the carbies.

sounds like a hose has split between the tank and carby..

According to my mechanic, the carbies overflow and flood everything. He said I shouldn't fill up my tank when it is on 'RESERVE' mode, instead I should switch it to 'ON' mode and fill it up. Now they gotta flush the engine, strip the carbies, clean the air filter and hopefully none of the seals got damaged while the fuel drips all over the place.

Pontikat, I guess I'm lucky that the firies didn't charge me for anything. I explained to them wat happened, and really didn't know that the bike will leak fuel, I think they sympathise wif me.

Anyone know wat's the running and reserve capacity of the tank?

I know the tank is 18 litres, the manual did not state how much is for reserve.

normally it is 2 or 3 litres...or maybe 5. Fill up when you get to it new_all_coholic.gif

Primary = 15 L
Reserve = 3 L

I have the original Kawasaki service manuals including the ZZR suplement - if you need any info just let me know and I'll scan it for you.
