Sydney trip ... at last !

Post by javaman »

I managed to convince the boss that motorcycle travel is good for the company yeah !

So I need to be in Sydney on the 21st, then taking flights to Darwin and back the next day. After that some free time in Sydney before heading back home.

Some question:

- Can I ride melb-sydney via snowies in one day ? Or should I leave Saturday and do an overnight somewhere ?

- What is the nice route ? I'm thinking of black spur - mansfield - whitfield - snowies (thredbo etc.) - then ???

- There is long term parking at the airport right ?

Thanks :D

Melbourne to Sydney via the snowies in one day might be even a little more than I would be prepared to do Andi!! Two days is comfy. Via the coast can be done in a day no worries at all. It's only about 1000klms that way. However via the snowies it's prolly gunna work out to about 1500+ klms!

As far as a route is concerned try this. Do your Melbourne to Bright run as per yr intention, then over the Tawonga Gap to Mt, Beauty, then the back roads up to Tintaldra, Elliots way, Kiandra, Adaminiby then Cooma. From Cooma, you have two or three Choices.

1. cooma-Bombala-Wyndham,Cathcart,Candello,Bega-coast to Sydney.

2. Cooma-Batemans-Coast to Sydney

3.Cooma to Canberra to Braidwood and the backroads up into Sydney.

Andi, A relatively easy ride is also to be had going Via Bairsndale Bruthen,Cann river,Mt Imlay then back to the coast and up the coast to Sydney.

Cheers :)

Hmmm...thanks! Coastal road is a great idea. I think I will take it with bit of detour from Cann River - Mt. Imlay as suggested :D. That means I need to leave really early and get me a shoo roo 8)

I will take the Snowies on my way back, simply the reverse right ? ... 9 sleeps to go yeah !!

The run from Melbourne to Sale is relatively kangaroo free regardless of time of day. It's from Sale onwards you have to worry, and if you leave early, by the time you get to Sale, the Roos wil have departed for other places!
