insy-whensy spider

Post by Yankee »

or however you'd spell it...

anyway, this is about the rain!!!
who likes it? who hates it? who doesn't care?
I just wanted to say be careful out there boys and girlz, and not only during, but after as well. A lot of fallen trees, moved gravel from side of road to on ROAD, and other debris after the weather we have been having! I am BUSTING to go for a ride ANYWHERE, but I know if i went up the mt. it would just be depressing.... too much debris.
SO ANYWAY, be careful out there, and the sun'll come out tomorrow!!! :P

I don't care too much about the rain - just a hassle to get into and out of all the gear.
I generally go slow on the twisties in the wet though. I had an off with the front wheel slipping out in the wet on a corner - never trusted a front properly in the wet since

I dont mind a wet road, been doing it so long now anyway, & i feel safer on the bike then in any car i've ever driven. This is just riding not playing all bets are off if its wet of course. BUT getting wet even with the gear on SHITS Me. Once the glasses get wet its a damn pain in the bum to ride by "smell & hearing". Be carefull out there folks. Remember Mother Nature HATES you even more then the Cage drivers so dont let the bitch damage your toys.

Stupid rain. I just don't wanna go out in it because my bike will get dirty and I always get stuck behind a car which throws up dirty mist all over my visor :? I don't really mind it if I have to ride in it, the bike hates it though, revs jump everywhere and feels stressed (oh dear!) plus I always have the habit of applying to much throttle and spinning the back wheel

I don't mind the rain. I find the smell of the rain when I'm riding to be quite refreshing.

I hate the rain... I try to avoid riding in it all times... Just too much hassle and I don't have wet weather gear anyway.

Having ridden back from the GC bike show a few weeks back i got the drenching of a lifetime! Cars were pulling over cause they couldn't see!

I just drive... much easier. :?

I can't see through the visor when it rains. Don't know if it's just me, but my eyes go on auto-focus and zoom in on the raindrops right in front of them, not the road. Mattyv wears glasses and doesn't have the same problem - which is why he rode home one night from Melbourne to Ballarat (with me on the back) a little over the speed limit, quite happily, meanwhile I'm completely freaking out because I can't see a goddamn thing and the middle lines look like the outer lines and I think we're gonna die.. over and over and over. There are so many advantages to riding your own bike!!

I agree Nath... it's only water.

but the visor being dirtied up is a pain, then ya havta lift it up only to get ya glasses dirtied as well (for those of us sight challanged)...

Way I see it is, if ya on the bike and wet... it's damn sure better than not being on the bike at all...

cheers

Don't ride in it on purpose, but if i get stuck in it, it's all good. I don't ride to commute, so i'm generally a fair wether rider.

Fark, i live in Melbourne now and every ride day we plan it rains. The last few have been interesting.

This one on the 19th is going to be great. (Fingers crossed)

It pissed down here yesterday. Got my gear on, swung my leg over, RRIIIIPP right aroung the crotch. I spent half an hour with the hair dryer in the workshop getting rid of that "I've just pissed myself" feeling.

doesn't really bother me, bit of a pain that you have to slow down though
hail hurts.

got to ride home through a flood one day after work. sunny as im leaving, spitting a minute later, as im turning onto the main road it starts to absoloutely bucket down. then hail. water down the side of the road is 5cm deep in no time.
get to the bridge under the freeway and its probably about a foot deep, realise im on the tram tracks half way through it and manage to get off em.
coming up to the last intersection near my house i'm lanesplitting past the cars, get to the front and realise why they're all stopped ... the intersection is a metre under water and the fireman are fishing people out of their cars.
turn around ride away down the footpath and go the long way around.
get home soaked (no wet weather gear) but with a huge smile on my face.

bloke from the local camera shop was out taking photos and i've got one of myself at the front of the line of cars looking at the flooded intersection, shame my scanner doesn't work.

ahh thats why i wear "tear offs"....after so long of getting mud & bugs &
shit on ur visor, u rip one off & all is clear again...for another 5
mins..lol
i must say tho, my new sidi boots are great!!...they seem vented in the hot
weather, but after riding in them all week in the rain, i still havent ended
up with a wet sock!!..brilliant..
also my new lid (x-lite..made by nolan) is choice..wind noise is minimal,
its comfy, not too heavy, and the visors have anti fog inserts from the
factory- dont have to do it urself...also water seems to bead & run str8 off
the visor better than ne lid ive had...they retail abt $850, i got mine for
$600..bargain i say..
