Interesting replies all.

A dirty is tempting I must say. I was watching Ultimate Bike Challenge on foxel the other day, it was the show where the bloke does the iron mountain challenge. Looked like great fun. I've always fancied mountain bike riding but been too lazy to pedal! :)

If I put some slicks on a 250 traily it could be the go. Then at least I'll have a 2nd bike to use not just for commuting but fun as well.

its not a bad idea, smaller bikes are cheap to run and all that, are you worried about insurance or just wear and tear on your main bike ?

I bought a spada when I had my aprillia due to insurance not allowing commuting, but if you're worried about tyres you could just by some spare wheels perhaps ?

a cheap bike with a simple motor is a good place to learn to service your own also (if you don't already).

Yeah I am concerned about insuring the 600 if I ride over that 8K limit some of the insurers impose. Also the depreciation on the 600 and risk of theft if parked on street. Also agree on the servicing, slowly teaching myself on the Gixxer.

Just been crusing ebay looking at 250 trailies and a road legal bike that is recent (ie late 90s onward) can be had for less than $3k easy.

Yeah, i thought about this, worked out what i wanted it for what it must have and what it must have and came up with the only obvious solution...

So i bought another zx12r. This one's an 02 A model just to be different, and its green.
