The cost of transport may be a bit on the pricey side though

transport costs, but on the bright side, the aussie dollar is looking good against the Yen, best it has for years.

If you do want to get stuff from Japan, now is the time to do it.

lol yeah i just want to see what the options are now with the strong aussie dollar. I think it'll be cheaper than trying to source from the US right?

Not likely. As a whole, Japan is an expensive country. It's one reason why everyone's so keen to sell their consumer goods there. Most of the stuff you might be able to get in Japan will be from the US, anyway.

If you just want to have a pipe from an exhaust manufacturer nobody's ever heard of, your easiest and cheapest option is to pick one up from a wrecker who brings in whole bikes from Japan; those usually have weirdo no-name pipes hanging off them which get flogged off separately.

When you say you want your bike to be special, what do you mean? Pipe? Rearsets? Race cams? Aftermarket airbox? Ported head? Race radiator? Forged wheels?

well considering the 1 aussie dollar is equal to over 100 Yen today, i'd say it'd be alot cheaper than it used to be, but then again its strong against the US as well.

probably not things like ported head, might just get that done locally if it ever gets that far. the only reason why i said japan is because since kawasaki is japanese i would have thought there would be more tuning companies that would do them. i know alot of the other stuff i can source elsewhere, which is what im doing but i just want to see what other options there are.

Where can i get an aftermarket airbox or ram air duct?

oops you're right

yeah planning to do that too, again hard to source good quality stuff like decent cf fenders and such. Magical Racing in japan has a cf swingarm protector i really like but not for the 636. I know of Dynomite in the UK that also do nice cf stuff but again not for the 636.
