Saki, if you were to sell it to a bike shop you would have got more than u did and they buy them off u for minimum of what they are worth! Just check in the trading post, bike sales, bike point and see for urself what they r sellin for
My bike is extremely well priced regarding the condition and k's its done!

I agree with strika, i prob would have got $1k more being on the mainland, but really, look at wats available, its not like there is a shortage of good bikes available, yes although 99% of us on here given the choice from the main 600's sports (ie R6, GSXR6 CBR6 and ZX6R ) if all where the same price same condition we would prob take the Kawa cause we all know they are the best, but it comes down to a realist money value.

I know these bikes kick arse, i had 1, but really for not much more you could go out and buy a brand newy!

i got $9k for mine, and i am happy with that, but like i said its the nature of the beast. look at most other mass produced Japo bikes that are sold! do any of them hold there value ?

Plus i have looked in the trader and other places and the reason why u keep seeing the same ads at that price is just cause it is a little to dear IMO!

BUT none the less GOOD luck with the same and nice RX2!!

I think we have to agree to disagree there mate, for not much less u could also buy a 2001 model aswell, so look at it from that perspective. These bikes on trading post and alike do sell, i know cause i have been monitoring them for a while now... the reason I wanted to advertise on the forums first was to save myself abit of cash ie. advertisin fees but if all future bikes for sale on this forum are goin to be judged and compared to the price that u let urs go for Saki then I might aswell forget sellin it on here....but I wont

I always look at it this way! What can I buy a new one for, and then, how much cheaper would a used one have to be to make it attractive to me? As I can buy a new 2006 model for 12500 then I doubt anything over 10k would excite me used! But that's just how I feel about things! 9K for yours Saki certainly does taint the perspective in here, but even given that there are some logical reasons why a new car/bike drops so much in the first two years! Here is an inside view of things!

Lets say the purchase price, ride away for a new motorcycle/car is $18,000. There are a lot of charges included in that which are just not part of the value of the machine, but rather additional or on road costs, and tax component.

Stamp duty $600
Registration $500
Dealer delivery charges $695
Goods and services tax $1700
Sub Total $3495

Deduct original purchase price of $12500
leaves $9005

Now that is also not allowing for wear and tear, usage and age depreciation! So in reality, I think obtaining 9k for it is not all that bad when considered!

I had an 05 which I purchased new for $12500 ride away. I did 17,000klms on it and sold it for 10k. I thought I was kissed on the penis with that! In other words I was relatively happy! (as happy as you can be when you lose any amount of money).

As for what they sell for in the papers??? I think the words that should be utilised is "advertised" not "sell". I see people advertising bikes at way over the odds all the time. And they sit for ages! Then when they eventually sell, they lie about what they got to their mates so they don't lose face! Either that, or EVERY bike I have ever bought I have been lucky enough to buy it off a complete idiot with no idea of how much lower than the asking price the offer I made is! I bought one last night as a matter of fact, at 2k off the advertised price! I am the luckiest guy on earth I reckon!

HAHA some funny stuff in that post strika, never cease to make me laugh Exactly as u said mate, its advertised for that amount of money... what I sell it for is another matter entirely... as I have mentioned above and in my previous post if someone is interested they will contact me and we can work somethin out... For instance I had someone offer me an ammount without even comin to look at the bike!
How could u offer someone a considerate ammount of money without knowin what ur gettin???? I know I wouldnt.... So I didnt take that person seriously, dealt with people like that many a time with previous vehicles.
Your bike strika had almost double the ammount of k's on it that mine had, I dont know about anyone else but you can feel the difference in the way a bike behaves with little usage and one that has been around the traps a few times!
Either way, the bike is a fantastic bike that has been extremely well looked after... and anyone that is interested can give me a tingle and hopefully work somethin out

People perceptions of what's a good bike and what's not are often screwed too. I know a guy who refused help in buying a bike, and ended up with a tarted up shitbox! He thought it was mint! Till I started pointing out the lockwired sump plug, cross drilled bolts, and nasty gouges in the frame from gravel traps!
But when you come across a nice one it's confidence inspiring! Knowing that it's never been to redline, had oil changes every 2500klms, been stored in a dust free dehumidified room, covered in soft cloth and being piped tranquil music 24 hours a day! Then the journey and often the price is worth the trip!

I hope someone finds it worth the trip to yours!

HEHEHEHE So true dude, luckily my mate listened to me when buyin his first bike... as we went around lookin he was just offerin all kinds of cash to peices of crap I wouldnt want to stir my own into! But he was very excitable and couldnt wait to get a bike.
Well I couldnt say that the bike has been listenin to tranquil music 24 hours aday... she seems to like System of a down in the mornin(to wake her up), Motorhead for lunch(helps the digestion), and a bit of Janni live at the Acropolis just before bed to wind down
P.S. the climate control in the garage has been set a dry and cool 18degrees celcius to maintain pristine conditions for paint and motor component durability and performance

Deni have you tried netrider.com.au as a place to advertise? It is mainly newbie orientated but the have 6000 members and a huge bikes for sale forum. There are a lot of new riders looking for learner bikes or coming off them and looking for 600s. I got a lot of calls from it when selling my zzr250. Best of all its free!

If you do join it and advertise make sure you post a few times in other forums as they have a rule that your first post can't be a 'for sale' ad.

That's rather creative acounting. Is the ride away price 15995 or 18000?
it's either 18000 ride away, minus 3495 = 14505
or ir 12500 + 3495 = 15995
not to sure where you got 12500 from

For what it is worth the point is still valid. If I can buy a new one for 14k ride away, why would I spend 12 on one that is a year old with X Km on the clock an no idea how it was ridden. However, if I can get it for 9-10k then I have saved 4k+ and it's worth it.
