Very illegal - perhaps not from the point of view of plate visibility, but certainly from the point of view of having chopped the fender off!

Having said that one of our members - can't remember his name - had an 05/06 zx6r with Laser pipes and had his plate mounted in a similar spot and apparently had no problems from the boys in blue.

Not a chance it's legal, IMO. But odds of getting busted for it are pretty slim too, so if you're keen: go for it. ;)

Bikes usually need a fender @ such and such angle from the centre of the rear wheel + such and such distance from the rear wheel, etc, etc. The idea is to stop throwing too much shit at the cars behind you, more than making your number plate visible. Without a fender you can throw stones a long way up in the air... believe me! Been showered with rocks following an R1 over some loose gravel on the road - and I was at least 50 metres back. :P

That was EvilSim. He had done all sorts of cool shit to his bike.

I totally agree with you Neka. I figure if they are pulling people over looking for defects they will get you for something wether youve modded it or not.

You should check the regulations here- they will tell you what the rules are for rear plates. As far as I know, they have to be visible from the rear of the bike at all times ?

If fender eliminators were legal, do you think the bike manufacturers would put those fugly plastic things on the back of their beautiful creations?

hahaha oh yeah why didn't i think of that.

i guess the moral of the story is try not to ride behind a bike without a fender.

i just dont want to attract too much attention from the boys in blue by having the plate too invisible. has anyone here ever been defected for having a fender elim.?

If you live in Qld its a daily hazard - the local wallopers have a really high-tech timber tool for checking the 45deg between axle and mudguard ...

Mate, bung on the fender eliminator and enjoy yourself. The coppers down here have got better things to do than checking if your mudguard (please.....not *fender*) is long enough....

The important things are indicators........ya gotta have indicators !!
