yay its going ( or is it )
about a year ago i had a zx 1100 fall into my lap for $ 500 ( bargain) with a few electrical gremlins. after steeling a bit of time here & there finaly got it to the point of wanting to try to start it (for halls gap ) but i had 1 loose wire & no clue of where it went. so a quick call to the mighty gos & a half hours tinkering & a coupla beam & cokes later the old bastard coughed into life covering the both of us + all the contents of my shed in a thick cloud of black smoke. i think all canberra could hear the cheers followed by coughing. so 2 days later after getting permit & inspection booking its bloody rego d , passed with flying colours ( mainly green ) so i figured a week or so to thrash it around town & sort any problems. the second day of riding this beast & really enjoying it the damn thing started to sound like a bloody V W , thought it was only an exhaust gasket but turned out to be one of the exhaust studs fell out taking a chunk of thread with it.so its off with the head & off to repairs & off to halls gap on a spewzuki darn it.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

It was pretty wild going for a blast on this old baby !! PC has done heaps of work to the wiring, replacing a lot of dodgy burnt-out old wiring under the seat, new harness plugs, that type of thing. But there was still one mother F%$$#$n wire that didn't appear on the wiring diagram....
so a bit of a punt here and there and *bingo* we have fuel pump working, and then a couple of solenoids start clicking.........knowing EFI/DFI kwakka's from the 80's pretty well
, I said to Mick, its a goer mate - hit the start button and she cranked over
, couple of false starts, then up and running , lots of weed from old carbon in the head/pistons, but 10 good minutes of running, and no more smoke.
Actually, for a bike that hasn't run at all for about 5? years, it sounded really tight, spun up easy and will be a great rig once the exhaust stud issues are sorted out. Its just a bugger that it isn't going to be at HG this weekend.......
would have looked great in amongst all the late-model sports tackle...
I had also forgotten how *long* and *tall* these old rigs were to ride
......and the brakes
been spoilt with the ZX12R brakes.....
Another bike in the rack Mick, now its time to get cracking on the GSX transplant !!!
