It's very sad that Randy got stolen and yes the rider is a scumbag thief, but.......... he wasn't a child molestor, or a wife beater or a murderer (gawd, I hope he wasn't anyway), he didn't deserve to die and some of the comments on here are quite callous.

Not too much abuse please, I'm actually quite a nice person
Jenn I think I speak for everyone when I say this, no 1 wishes death on anyone, its just that every 1s had enough of these prick and just lettin ther frustrations out unfortunatlly this is the way it sounds I kinda sure no 1 means any real harm exept a broken arm or leg :D

Thanks for your thoughts guys. It was quite cathartic reading them all!

To answer a couple of questions, no they haven't released the man's name and no I didn't have insurance. It was going to be $140 a month and I decided it wasn't worth it. I had Randy for just over three years and I owe $4700 on the loan. If I'd paid the insurance, I would've paid $5320, so in a way I'm technically ahead. I just have no bike!!!

I called the Accident Inv. Squad back today to ask "what happens now"? From what I could make out from the initial call, they've entered Randy in the system as recovered, they've done their mechanical investigations on the bike and he'll be released next week. However, no mention was made of looking further into why he was riding a stolen bike. Was he the person who stole it? If not, how did he come across it? Who did the stolen plates belong to that were on Randy when he died? Before there wasn't a single lead to follow up, now it seems like there's an awful lot. But it looks like I might have to hound them about it to get it looked into.

They also told me I'll have to pay for the towing from the accident scene in Marsden to the tow yard at Parkridge. I have no idea where that is and how much it'll cost, but when I filed the police report I ticked the box that said I wanted to be contacted before any towing charges were incurred if Randy was recovered. Obviously I wasnt. Under the circumstances, I'm sure they were just clearing the scene and taking him somewhere they could look at him. Am I seriously going to have to pay for that??

I'm going to keep calling and asking for information and pester them to investigate if I have to because whoever took my bike has taken other people's - and usually you never see them again. If the guy riding Randy was the one who stole it, he was pretty damn stupid to ride a bike with stolen plates. It makes me think he was probably unknowingly on the receiving end of stolen goods. Which means if they can track down where he got Randy, they might just find a serial bike thief.

No legal eagle but I don't believe they can MAKE you pay towing charges for an accident that clearly you had nothing to do with!

Might also be worthwhile finding out if there is any victim of crime compensation type thing available Bobbi, again NFI how it all works but you've got bugger all to lose.

Hounding these guys seems to be the relevant course of action for sure, it is Qld after all, NOTIHNG moves fast in Qld :D

Took me a moment to work out who Randy was. I though he was an ex or something similar. Worked out he was the bike...

If you ticked to notice box then the charges for towing should not be your problem, they should be charged to the fkwhit who authorised it

Oh dear...no insurance...I would have thought third party fire and theft would be a minimum on any bike anyone owed money on...? Probably cost less than $250pa...

Might be worth paying a lawyer type for half an hour of their time to see where you stand in recovering funds from riders estate - afterall he destroyed it, whether he was an "innocent" party or not.

yea maybe death is a bit harsh....

but if u think abt how we bust our arse to EARN our bikes/cars/homes etc, then some lazy bastard just decides to pinch it...

even if this guy was an "innocent" party, surely he woulda known when he bought the bike that it was stolen and he tried to rego it...

i kno im harsh, but i for 1 am sick of the reality that has become life..if bobby had caught the guy and beaten him up during a home invasion, she would be on assault charges.... at least this way is justice..

I tried getting third party fire and theft for the gixxer recently but every company I spoke to quoted very very high, pretty much the same as comprehensive

Interesting...

I only wanted TPFT on the ER...but they don't do it as it would be priced within $10 of full comp...so they don't bother - just offer the one insurance...

Sorry if it's not correct but they're scum and if they do something that takes their life too friggen bad.
At the very least they would have known it was stolen and that makes them just as bad as the person who took it... some low life paid the ultimate price for screwing someone over and thats Karma at it's very best.

Bobbi, i have a lock up garage if you need to store Randy somewhere secure.
