Never owned one but best Mate has 1 hes had for 11 years, his Lady is riding it.
Research & Fit some Huge crash Nobs to it. You will definately have to drill the fairing to mount them but will save you heaps on the repair bills.
Always use a little back brake to balance it Before grabbing a hand full of front Brake.
Yes they are 1 of the noisiest motors I've ever heard at idle.
Enjoy quite a good little scoot imo.

I was wondering if we can try to make a list of parts n their price.
Let me get the ball rolling and see how far this can go.

1) front disc + front brake pads = $410 (fitted)
2) steering head bearing = $260(fitted)

Yup me got a ZZR-250, nto a bad bike though I only have a CB250 (what RiderSafe SA supply when going for your L's) to compare it to . As for parts, that's the last thing I want to think about, I just paid $8000 for a bike and don't want to spend anymore money for now

i think the gpx and zzr 250 are mechabically the same but different shape/size.

i had a gpx250 and found they were ok, easy to ride, cheap to run.

u mentioned about $410 for disc, try to get non genuin kwaka parts or second handies if u dont wanna spend that much.

the price is worse when u upgrade. everything is twice as expensive.

ZZR's 10 kg heavier than the GPX. Also has a slightly longer wheelbase. ZZR's prettier. If I were in the market, I'd probably get a GPX for preference, but that's just me.

Yeah, the $410 is a quote for an aftermarket disc. The genuin Kawasaki one will cost about $200-$300 more.

If it is, I know that bike isn't that old but has a few km's on it. What you might want to do is try http://www.findapart.com.au and get the bits second hand for it. There are quite a few zzr 250's floating around so you should be able to find what you need quite easily..

Yup, I got jor's bike, apparently there's a fair bit of work to be done on it. I took it out for a short ride last week and found tat the bike needs to be serviced. Now the bike is wif City Yamaha for a front disc + pads change and safety inspection.
I also forsee some parts need to be replace in the near future, things like tensioner, steering head bearing, wheel bearings and such.

Jor was supposed to take it to Bogaarts and get it fixed.. i take it he didn't..
you got to keep in mind that the bike has 60,000km on it, a few bits are past their use by date as i don't think the bike has been looked after properly (before jor had it probably)
we've used the findapart site and it worked well for us, you also might want to try the motorcycle wreckers and the import centre, both in Moss st, Springwood.
New bits are better than second hand, but with the age and condition of the bike, you're going to be wasting money doing that if you can find decent second hand parts..

Hey,

I know the guy who had it before Jor and no it wasn't looked after at all..

If ya can get second hand parts thats great... even better if ya can put it all together ya self....

Chri snad I fix all our own stuff, even built our FZR.. so if you need any help putting stuff together we are willing to help... Trust me it saves heaps..
