I always thought the 9 was a capable bike! However it kinda started to get on my goat having so many fanatical followers in here. Almost to the point where I almost discarded them from the consideration equation. Thankfully I tripped over one so cheap, that even if I didn't like it I could have resold it for an earn. After a few rides however, I discovered what all the others had been banging on about for so long! The feckin things are just an awesome all round roadie. It'll commute, Scratch and tour in comfort. Add some luggage and you could cross the country....I do
.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

but is it a good choice for a new rider upgrade? It dont seem too long agoStrika wrote:I always thought the 9 was a capable bike! when it was the big Ks largest real sporty. Lots of people wobbling around on litre bikes these days because the midsize aint fashionable.
not that you wobble strika more bump and grind

Depends on the rider ultimately, and what you do with it. noticed on
some ridedays some 9s and z1000 are hardly using their bikes and may
as well be on 500 twins

lots of good bikes out there enjoy whichever you pick

Check the For Sale section on the site here - Cambo V2 has a 1999 ZX9R up for grabs at $6k - its a bargain. Some slight scratches, nothing major, I think this would be a great bike to move up to....

+1 on the 9. Been riding one for 18 months, 6 days a week, and I must say it's a very versatile bike. She's as happy commuting as fangin' it with the boys on the weekend. Can't really go past it for the type of riding you're looking for. It's also great two-up - my girlfriend spends a LOT of time on the back (we have no car
). Servicing is simple and cheap, generally - particularly if you can do oil yourself.
Actually I think the thing is costing me less to service than my GPX250 did! Tyres are a little dearer, though.

its the smooth and predictable power that make it easy to ride, and they only go as fast as you make themBuck wrote:but is it a good choice for a new rider upgrade? its advantages are its better for bigger folk than the more recent bikes as they are just getting too small, not everyone is the size of dani pedrosa
