Todays Good Service/Bad Service rant

Post by mohawk miss »

Took my trusty bike to a local (St Marys) bike wrecker +mechanic to have a broken bolt (on the ventura rack mounts) drilled out.

After umming and ahhimg for 5 minutes, he says "ooh, the side and rear fairing will have to come off, it'll be at least an hour and a half job, maybe more, and gee, but your rear pads are right down, they really need replacing urgently." :x

These would be the SAME rear pads that were checked when the chain got done

Got back on bike and rode around to my car mechanic, his son says "whats up", I ask Can you do this for me? Sure no worries. :) 15 minutes later bolt drilled out & rethreaded, apologies that they didnt have a bolt to fit and cost me NIL! :D So Kudos to the guys at Glendenning Auto repairs at St Marys (they race drag cars but hey, noones perfick) 8)

And Honourable Mention to Nepean Boltmaster, who gave me a couple of new bolts and washers for nothing, along with some info on steel vs zinc.

8) :D
I used to have a handle on Life,
but it fell off.

What about the great job that guy did on the chain and sprocket replacement..
and then backed up the service with an adjustment the following week.... you can't beat service like that, or the price.. :-)

I also believe he mentioned your rear pads were a fair bit down, but would probly be OK for a bit as you SHOULDN'T use the rear that much...

The other day I went to Race Replica to ask them about an unusual cracking noise coming from "somewhere up the front".... Everyone who has looked at it so far (myself, rob, greg, myself again, my neighbour, my neighbours cat, my neighbours cat's tennis coach) have looked at and have gone "WTF!" even the younger of the mechanics at RR wasnt sure (although he only a a second to spare at the time and suggested it was probably the brake pads moving).... In any case, rocked up to ask them what it could be, and to organise a time to fix it.... The two of them spent probably close to half an hour and figured it out! No charge........ awesome....

I was so impresed that I thought I would go in and buy a Z1000......... They have a nice matt metallic blue one for sale at $13k......... Too bad I couldnt find the sales guy and no one else could help me

Oh and by the way..... they have the 07 ZX range sitting in their showroom now..... black, red, orange and green ZX6R 07 models........ I have to admit I only like them in red and black........
The world is round. It has no point.

I have head the boys at Glendenning are pretty good, and thats from in the industry. As for Nepean Boltmaster, they rock, have dealt with them for sometime and ALWAYS have the stuff and do all the right service things, freebies, advice, delivery.

As for the clown at the wreckers...well cya, and surely if you'd asked someone on here couldv'e done it, theres enough of us local to you that can drill holes crooked and tap in an irregular thread size

My z750 has that cracking sound/feel too, team moto didnt even wanna check it out, so my long term relationship with LAE Racing started, they offered to look over the front end and ended up telling me it was the pads moving, all free.

Ah yes, and so modest, too. I recall he said the pads were down, but still okay for a while. Nothing about "urgent" there. Maybe "that guy" will change the pads for the same price?......

Yes, but I needed it done yesterday, it *should* have been done when the bolt broke a while ago but .....
