I used to struggle getting hooks around my forks and pokeing my hands under the fairings etc but these straps are too easy and it only takes 1 minute to do,i just tie down the front but it pulls the front wheel into the back of my van so its solid and nothing moves at all.TOO easy really
There was a guy at the recent Melbourne bike expo that was selling a unit that you put onto the rear tyre to strap the bike. A mate bought a unit and transported his Blackbird down from Sydney on a trailer. From all reports he said it works an absolute bloody treat. There is no nead to use tie downs etc that could possibly damage your fairing. If this product does not become the standard in a few years to transport bikes on trailers I will go he. IMHO
I had a set of those, they bent my bloody clip ons..... Now I strap the bike from the triple clamp..
My clip ons are light aluminium tube though, not the heavier cast standard ones, so it may not be an issue for others...
I saw the thing Dazza is talking about at P.I. and it looks the goods. I think it was about $180 or so. The advantage was it strapped onto the tire and didn't compress the suspension... I'll look into one when the finances recover... or not...

I have 2 of those! I have always called them bar snakes, think they cost $50! They are a little hard on the grips & I have tapped a rag onto 1 side where it may rub on my fairing.

a quick Google search shows nothing
but
it looked like a curved motorcycle mudguard (bit bigger than the tyre)
with 2 u bolts welded on each side (4 on total obviously)
and when sittiing on top of the bike TYRE
you strapped this to the trailer (thru the ubolts)
they came in 2 sizes...thin and wide
thin for front or older thin rears
wide..for todays sports bikes
