So I dropped it this morning....

Post by Scottatron »

Grrr, such a stupid move.

I had to put some air in the tyres this morning, so I stopped at the first servo on the way to work - the air hose was broken. No biggie, so I decided I'd fill em up at the Mobil on Hoddle St. Pulled in there and parked nice and close to the gutter/air hose.

This is an air hose with the retractable hose inside the round casing. I swung off the bike as per usual and my bloomin' backpack got caught on the aforementioned air hose.

This meant that I was coming off the bike, on one foot and completely "off balance", as my legs wanted to keep moving but my upper body wouldn't.

The bike toppled over

I picked her up (GPX250) and checked the side, no damage to the exhaust, and a VERY minor (Long and narrow) dent on the right hand side, right where my knee goes when riding. There are some other very minor scratches on the tank above this.....these will buff out nicely.

So dammit, after 9 months and never even coming CLOSE, I drop it whilst not moving.

Grrrrr.

Bugga. :(

But did anyone see you? IMO that's worse than the scratches. :)

Nah, no one saw, it was at 6:45am this morning, and it is a Public Holiday here.

I probably wont bother fixing the damage, it would be worth more to fix than what I would lose on it.

The damage is quite minor...

Happens to the best of us. I haven't ridden in a while, and just picked up my 'new' bike (by new I mean old & crappier than anything I've ever owned before) so I thought it good occasion to meet up with a mate.

So off we went... caught a movie then went for a quick ride to get a feed. Stopped at a set of lights just before the coffee shop and said to my mate Steve that we'd go past the cafe, do a u-turn and then come back & park on that side of hte road.

So, that we did. Well, I did. As I jumped off the bike I looked around and saw him toppling over, apparently not everyone can do a full-lock u-turn in a tight street!

By the time I'd gotten over there he'd picked her up again though, he was cranky about it for the rest of the night though and I'm not allowed to tell anyone (whoops!) :)

Try dropping your bike in your own garage....

I did it yesterday (Sunday) afternoon 15min prior to loading it up to take it to PI for a track day... Busted brand new brake lever *sighs* Thankfully the 'ol Mutant's spare brake lever fitted... - Thanks Groggles!!

Both my half drops were in the garage. First time I was pushing the bike through the door while standing next to it and it fell away onto the door (nice tank dent) and the second was when I jumped a bit on the tank to compress the front suspension and fell onto my toolbox. Oops.

I did mine when I tried to ride off with the disk lock on and quickly found that doesn't work... *moron alert*

So it went down and being the hero I am... I got between the road and the bike on the way, by choice of course *cough*

But what really pissed me off was all of the rubber-neckers just standing around scratching thier head wondering if I was ok, but not helping me get the damn thing bavk up. Do these things look like they weigh 20kgs? It's bloody hard yakka...
