H2 = Mach IV.

Yep, the H2 750 is also referred to as the 'Mach IV ', whereas the little bro H1 500 is the 'Mach III'.

They often get confused, and the smaller triples in the family had no 'Mach' number at all ...

plus they were all prefixed with an 'S', not a 'H'.

All this and more will be covered when the history of Kawasaki gets up to about 1967....

- so far we have only started at 1963.....

I am so glad this new forum has been set up. Not to take anything away from sportsbikes at all, as this is of course the primary focus of the site. But its always good to understand the history of KHI's bike division......

These were the sportsbikes of their time so they fit rather well on the site I think but then I'm probably a bit biased.

Apparently the Japanese 750 was called a Mach3 in 72. My mate who owns 8 Mach IVs doesn't believe me about this point. Z power sell the badges here. They sell lotsa bits for the H2s but a resto must approach $20k if you look at the prices. BTW there are a brand new set of genuine pistons on ebay for a Mach IV at the mo- $750. Old mate reckons Wisecos don't work in Mach IVs cos they seize. Genuine is the go but they aren't available anymore.

never saw that one before.us 500s were machiii 750s were mach ivs.weiscos are good pistons you need to make sure the ring don't bind on the pin when you gap the rings.
