FOREST AND RIBA JUST MISS THE LOSAIL PODIUM

Doha/Losail, Quatar, 25 February 2007 - GIL Kawasaki Race Team riders Fabien Foret (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) and Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) battled to fourth and fifth places respectively after 18 hard laps of the Losail circuit.
A fist corner misfortune stopped each rider from joining the leaders and they had to fight hard throughout to pass riders who had started faster, but had inferior consistent pace.

On the final lap it was a drag race to the finish line for the closely matched GIL riders, with Foret winning their personal duel by only 0.089 seconds. Foret scored a valuable 13 points for fourth with Riba on 11.

Fabien Foret: “I know this was a good result but I am a little disappointed because we could have had a better start, and I had a crash this morning because we had a crash after a braking problem this morning, and hurt my ankle a bit and my finger. It was good to get strong points, but I hoped for a better race. But we showed we are already fast and we can only get faster.”

Pere Riba: “Not so bad. I made a very good start, maybe fourth or fifth, but someone came inside me a little crazy and I had to lift up. I think it put me down into tenth. Everybody seemed fast at the beginning but we could keep the same good pace all the way to the end, so if we did not lose this time at the beginning, we could have had even better. And we were also the only team to use the hard tyres. We scored good points and that was the important thing today.”

Very promising start for the supersport boys. Had they not bogged down so horribly off the line, there could have been a man in green on the podium. With so much development left to go, it bodes well for the season ahead that they are already fast.
Ah, computer dating. It's like pimping but you rarely have to use the phrase "upside your head" - Bender Bending Rodríguez

hopefully another by product is that it speeds up the development of race parts (exhaust etc), that might help shannon and mad maxwell
