A STUDING DAY FOR NIETO AND LACONI
First day of qualification in Losail circuit of Qatar and first round of the World SBK 2007 for Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team. Both Fonsi Nieto and Regis Laconi worked a lot to find the right set up of the bike, because the conditions of the track were really different from the ones they found during the tests of last December. The best rider of the two was Nieto with the time 2' 00'' 309 even with a bad flue that is debilitating him. A bit slower was Laconi who had some problems with the lack of grip on the front, his best time is 2' 00'' 733. Both of them collected a lot of information that the team developed right away to permit to the riders to make a better qualification tomorrow.
FONSI NIETO: " The bike is quite good, it's me that I'm not feeling good so I can't use it in all it's potential. This annoying flue doesn't has an end, I have to thank the Clinica Mobile 'cause is doing a lot to cure me.The only problem with the bike is the chattering but we had the same problem even in the first day of test last December but it was solved. I believe tomorrow will be a better day, especially if I'll feel better".
REGIS LACONI:" I'm not satisfied because today I wasn't able to solve the problem. I have no grip on the front, maybe because the asphalt is really warm, and this doesn't permit to be confident on bends. Besides the bike take the corner wide so I have to open the gas while I'm still bending, cause it takes me out from the ideal trajectory. We will study and work a lot to solve this problem

Ah, computer dating. It's like pimping but you rarely have to use the phrase "upside your head" - Bender Bending Rodríguez

Play of of the day goes to the local Qatari national wildcard rider on a locally prepared ZX10R do a length of the main straight mono at 200kph on the final lap.
I will do fuller report later with some pics, Losail is an awesome track in kingdom where the local crown prince loves motorcycle racing.
