I remember seeing in a PB mag that Gus Scott(?) managed to wheelie a Gold Wing :shock: . So if that can get up on one wheel, I'm sure that an ST or BMW or whatever the cops are now using can get up too.

Two pages and not one decisive insight into how to wheelie from the KSRC crew! Faark we are hard core arn't we! :oops: :lol:

And when I say wheelie, I mean Dangerous Dave Style wheelies, pull up next to you at 100kph and pull it up wheelies! Go through the gears from 1/2nd to 6th wheelies! Not pussy little ones like I can do off the lights and over crests and from a standing start stuff. I mean get it up, hold it on the balance point for as long as you care to wheelies! :lol:

probably cos none of us

1. want to lose our licence
2. are that good.
3. want to die...

the race track aint long enuf for it.... and on the road, over 140kph gets scary when one wheel is in the air!!

i kno i can do at least 400mm... cos my 1/4 mile time of 13.6 on the back wheel into 3rd will attest...

I'm still waiting for some useful info. I'd like to learn how to wheelie, but would have to buy another bike to practice on. Spent enough time playing with the suspension on the 12 to make sure the front wheel stays on the ground!

If you really want to know how to pull good wheelies, just watch some Doug Demokos videos.....

don't shit urself when it comes up.
my 9 would pop up real quick then i'd all but close th throttle and lose it.

best way on my 9 was to roll it on gradually to about 6 grand quickly and briefly close the throttle and open it again full stick. when it popped up, look up and over the screen, not at the ground and close the throttle ever so slightly to slow the rise.
took a while to work it out, but you have to play around with how far you roll off to keep it up but not keep going up.
i hope that made sense.

Well here you go.
This is one of the best how to wheelie threads ever.

You can have the clutch up v power up argument for ever.

When the world best stunters say clutch ups are the way to learn then I tend to listen to them rather than some dude who most likely can wheelie his keyboard better than his bike.

Agreed.. however, the problem with clutch ups is they can catch you unawares. Having said that, they are a lot more controlled than the "shut the throttle and whack it open method" once you are used to them.

Strika, if you know someone with a 2-stroke 80 or 100cc mini-bike, ask them if you can borrow it. Something like a YZ80 is perfect.

Because they are lower to the ground, the balance point is easier to find and I have found that I can normally hold a wheelie on one of these longer than on the 6.

A word of warning tho... watch the power band on the 2 strokes. I broke my scaphoid flipping a mates kids brand new 2-stroke racer. :lol:
