my 6 pops it up in 1st easy as from about 4k upwards. 2nd from the ground does need the clutch if you want anything more and a couple of inches... commonly known as the "Stace"...

having your bike set up with loads of rear preload would prolly help, when i set the sag to 40mm on my 636 it's desire to power wheelie dissapeared. :evil

Same with my old 9 too, set susp and the wheelies dried up.

The RF900 was good for em tho...not that i was.

I cannot wheelie concistantly but every now and then i crack a good 1/2 km one.

On the road bike i crack it in first and shift to second straight away and just try and catch it, thats why its not concistant. Dont like clutch wheelies at all so stay away from em.

On the race bike i dont try to wheelie but when it does grip and come up i just keep it pinned and lean into it and just let it happen. At QR its in 3rd or 4th gear so its not too bad.

Stay on the gas...maybe you'll save it, maybe you won't, but at least it will end the suspense....

Seeing this and Neka's post I'm less pissed now having difficulties with my 6. 1st gear I can use power only, smoother with clutch. 2nd gear I can't even clutch it. The other thing is road surface is big factor, as sometimes the rear will just spin, big hindrance to master "the stace".

I am well aware that a 9 will wheelie! See below for proof. All I am saying is that I am reticent to do it, as I know I can flip it easily enough and don't wanna do the damage! So, you're mentioned as a stunter...what's the best/safest/smoothest technique??? :)

the biggest tip mate..is all about the eyes... focusing, and looking str8 at the camera and smiling !!

seriously tho...cover ur rear brake...dont out-do urself.... i started with power wheelies in 1/2 gear... when i got use to it coming up and holding, i started to learn to clutch up 2nd ..problem with this is- if ur speed/revs arent high, it wont come up..i have to be doing 70+ for a 2nd geary to come up (and it doesnt come down till 150+) so speeds an issue...

all my slower ones are 1st gear (unless u wanna change ur gearing to stunt).... gradually bring it up...keep throttle steady.... and cover the rear brake in case it goes bad.... clutch ups are in my opinion MUCH harder to do....

Ok my earlier comment about not wanting to wheelie. Well last night for those who know the exit to city link from the westgate freeway after coming off the bridge. Well i took the corner in 3rd nice and steady, as i started to exit thought ok lets see what your made off, well scared the shit out of myself as the front wheel came up. I cant do wheelies.. Soon backed off the throttle and checked for anything squishie in my jocks and off i went.
