Don't the forks look skinny.

It's a pity that it's in New Zylind but at that price I'd really want to be able to justify it.

Keeping a bike in that condition for that length of time would have cost much much more than that price.

Yes indeed. An immaculate 1972 Z1 can fetch anything up to 20grand these days........but they have to be *absolutely* mint to get this sort of money.

I have spotted heaps of fakes out there, generally they are the really common 1976 Z900A4 model - they get painted in the 'Jaffa' scheme (72/73 as pictured), and the money being asked is *obscene* - but there are lots of giveaways to the 'actual' model, if you know where to look..... - and I have seen plenty of sellers get real nervous when you start looking at swingarms, for date stamps, and things like that.....

RedRoo knows more about Z900's than just about anyone else I know.

What we have above is a 1975 z1B, (sidecover badges and paint scheme identify this), with dual drilled discs from a much later MkII Z1000 (79 or 80 model). Its still a very nice motorcycle, but because of the commonality of the frame and major components, its absolutely possible to mix'n'match these bikes to create a visual model of whatever model takes your fancy.

I have modified my 1980 Z1000 square-tank model so much, that it resembles a 1974 z1A in *almost* every respect.......... . It has even fooled some knowledgeable punters in the VJMC ... until they spot the injector rail and injectors mounted in the head  ...

Here in town you can register and comprehensively insure a bike like that for a hundred bucks a year and not only that,if the bike gets damaged you get to keep it for restoration purposes but you still get $5k to fix it.

top pic is of a genuine Z1 900 Super Four, a for real one i'd say.. carbs are wrong..prob Z900A4 only 26mm instead of external adjust 28's or could be Z1R 28's but hard to tell, carb clamps are wrong...right type but wrong shape plug caps, but real give away is the head stud bolt nuts, not something ppl notice, but Super Four had a flat base instead of accorn, they were only on Super Four, rare as rocking horse shiet... $13K..hmmm yeah, would want to see more of it. but prob fair value for money, highest price i've heard of for 540 genuine miles unrestored as new, orig everything 42K at auction.

Z1B has wrong forks too...
