I broke my boys toe

Post by Aussie Ninja »

I was going one way in my steel caps, he was going in the other in bare feet. I felt my foot hit his and there was the inevitable oww. But when I looked at his poor foot he hadn't stubbed his toe, the second biggest wasn't pointing where it should any more. X-rays revealed the first bone is broken. I feel so guilty and he was a trooper through the whole thing if getting to the hospital and waiting to be seen. Gotta take him back next week to make sure its healing properly. :(

He'll be right mate. One of the hazards of being a parent. I hope you gave him a good old HTFU

I was once christened the bodyline father by the staff at the childrens hospital after breaking my daughters thumb with a sharply rising delivery in the backyard

Dont worry it happens, at least you didnt mean it, when my oldest was 3 - I was swinging him around by his arms as you do, his elbow dislocated and we didnt know for a day when we thought the little bugger is still in pain we took him to the doctor  that was after a big dose of HTFU son the night before as well  I felt so bad and the ex rubbed it in for days afterwards.

The upside is I'm home with him today, so I can do some more work on painting my race glass. :)

He's 8 and I didn't really have to. There were a few tears initially more for the fact that it was broken and pointing in the wrong direction, rather than the pain. Once we told him we'd take him to the hospital and the doctor would give him good drugs and they'd straighten it out he made it his mission to get us out the door and to the hospital. He just wanted it pointing the right way again.

...two weeks ago I made my daughter put up with appendicitis for two days because we thought it was gastro :(.

Having said that, after 48 hours she went to the doctor and it was admitted into the Royal Children's that evening. Two hours later and she was in post-Op.
