How fast is too fast?
Im just wondering what you guys and gals average speed is along highways and main roads?
I find it very easy to hit and maintain 120 km/h for the whole trip, depsite the fact im restricted to 80 km/h...

hmm.. That's like asking how long is a piece of string...
And which answer do you want? The sensible well behaved person response or the real response...
Cause I rarely speed...

The only response that can be posted on an open forum like this is - We All Do The Speed Limit . At All Times.RobertR wrote:Haha... the real response please.icebreaker wrote:hmm.. That's like asking how long is a piece of string...

If you come for a ride, you can see how rigidly we all adhere to this principle.....

".....shut the gate on this one Maxie......it's the ducks guts !!............."
How fast is too fast? When you start cartwheeling, thats when
But I obey the speed limit at all times, especially those 40k corners or when in a large group. Never know where those revenue raisers are hiding.
The track is where you can go fast as you want and cartwheel your little heart out and know the ambos wont take too long to get there.
If there were no speed limits it would depend on the bike, the rider, the road, the traffic, etc. etc. etc. One mans boredom is anothers Oh shit !!

Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

Riding at restricted speed on freeway is painful. Tried it a few weeks ago on the m4 at night, restricted to 90 but the wind, boredom, noise and being so uncomfortable made me stay on 110 for a while. Won't do it again though, I value my license too much and already lost points for L plate bungee jumping off back of bike, without the bungee.

10 k over generally, but that probable explains why i only have 3 points left, each fine except one i was caught doing 90 in a 60...
but on normal cruising, im normally within 10k over.
probably slower now.

It's all relative to traffic/road/weather conditions
In built up areas, 40/50 limits NEVER SPEED. Kill a child and it'll haunt you for life. 60/70 limits are much the same and 80/100 limits are often full of revenue raisers. If it's wet, slippery or visibility is bad, you shouldn't even reach the speed limit.
If you really want to exceed the speed limit, go to the track.

If you're worried about being restricted to 80 on a freeway with everyone else doing 110 - don't use the freeway, use alternate routes.
I was lucky in that my alternate route was the old pacific highway. You may not be so lucky, but regardless the alternate route would be safer - for you and your license.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
